Happy
St. Patrick's Day! It's been a fun week; my friend Gary Turner (who I met at Mega
Book University a few years ago) came to visit from
Atlanta, Georgia. We don't get to see each other much living on
opposite coasts, but we are great friends. (That's one of the
great things about this business-you make lifelong friends!)
We
hung out, walked on the beach, ate, watched movies, I helped him
lay out his next ebook and business plan for his fishing
business, and he directed and edited some new videos for me! So
it was really productive!
Also, our lease is up May 1st, so we're looking for a new place to
live, maybe. Moving is not one of my favorite things to do and we've
moved a lot - buying, fixing, and selling houses. Luckily I have
my ebook, "The Moving Cure, how to organize your move to save
time, money and your sanity (www.movingtips4u.com)
And it's truly been a lifesaver.
We moved here because I'm allergic to gas and our loft is
electric. But we'd really like to rent a house with TWO bathrooms instead of
one! And we don't want to buy right now - the prices are still
dropping in Los Angeles and unemployment is still growing.
I'd love a washer and dryer in the house. It makes me crazy
having to go 3 flights down to the laundry room. (I'm usually
doing it on weekends and I won't take the elevator because I've
gotten stuck in an apartment elevator in the past!)
Everyone puts up with this here because the building is
beautiful and the location is spectacular, 1/2 block from the
beach with an ocean view.
The more I look, the more I realize I don't want to give that
up! So I hope we can find something else near the beach - oh yeah
and a garage would be nice too!
I hope the universe is listening!

5 Fears That Stop People From
Writing An eBook and How To Overcome Them
Over the last 4 1/2 years I've
been teaching ebook writing, I've realized that people have a
lot of fear around writing one, so I've compiled the top 5 and
how to overcome them (or at least deal with them and get on with
it!)
-
They are afraid they won't have enough to say. The model I
use in my Quick- Start 3-Day eBook Authoring Workshop is a 96-page ebook. Some people
write more and some write less, but that's the standard. And some
people think that they won't have enough to fill 96 pages. But
what they don't realize is that if they are an expert in their field
(and most, but not all are) they have more than enough to say; they
just don't know it until they start organizing and putting their
ideas down where they can see them, and I show you how to do that.
-
It's overwhelming because they have so many notes and ideas that
they don't know where to start. Again, by organizing their
thoughts, which we do in a systematic way in the workshop, they begin
to see how the pieces fit together. And sometimes they see that it
really is more than one ebook. Once they know that, they take
just the information they want for THIS ebook, set the rest aside
and it stops being overwhelming!
-
They are
afraid it won't be good enough so they are afraid to even try, and
they pass up the opportunity to become a bona fide ebook author and
all the rewards that come with it! They think it's easier not
to try than to try and face their biggest fear - that they aren't good
enough. But the truth is that I've never seen a poorly written ebook
in my workshop - honest! Generally people who take the workshop
know their subject, they are already an expert, and they have
everything they need in their head. I just help them get it out on
to paper. But occasionally someone doesn't know what they want
to write about and we start from scratch. Either way, people who
are willing to spend the time and the money taking my workshop are
winners!
-
They are afraid
that they WILL succeed and it will really change their lives and
they are afraid of change. They are afraid that maybe they will make
more money than their spouse and he/she will feel threatened. Or
they will have to adjust their self- image, or some other reason, so
they pass and stay stuck ina life that doesn't make them happy.
-
They are afraid they
won't be able to write an ebook in 72 hours or less (which is how
long it takes in the workshop). And the truth is some people do and
some don't. But anyone can get it done in 72 hours when they use my
system. It really comes down to motivation and planning. Some
people plan to get it done over the weekend and others have
commitments and don't spend the whole weekend working on their ebook
so they don't expect to finish by the end of the weekend, but they
want to learn the process. Everyone is different.
So if you're afraid to write an ebook, that's okay. But don't let it stop you. I've taught everyone
from an 80-year old great grandmother to a single mom with 6
disabled children (who even got a book deal with my publisher from
the workshop). I've worked with welfare moms, people on the brink,
and even other Internet Experts! So I know you can do it! Anyone
can. If you can talk you can write an ebook!

Reader's
Q&A
|
|
Q: What
skills do you need to have to write an ebook?
A.
If you are going to do it on your own you need several skills: you
have to know how to do the research to find a topic people will want
to know about; how to figure out your passion and your skill set;
how to organize your thoughts and your ebook; how to write a
best-selling title; how to work with an ebook-cover designer to get
a great cover; how to format and pdf your ebook or find someone to do it for
you; how to copyright and protect it; and how to start marketing it. But if you do it in the workshop
(www.quickstart3day.com), all you
have to do is be able to think and talk in English!
Q:
What does it cost to get started?
A.
It's a lot cheaper to get started with ebooks than any other
business you could go into. All you need is a domain
name (www.godaddy.com or www.rickscheapdomains.com) , a hosting company (www.hostgator.com),
an ecommerce package like
http://snipurl.com/splashmarketing (The professional package has
the shopping cart, the autoresponders, and the affiliate program. a website design (you can start with just a banner and copy

or an ebook cover same as for banners or an ebook theft
protection (which is really optional)

cost ebook theft protection solutions.

Blog Formatting
Tip
Don’t copy from a Word document to
your blog. It adds additional code and it could dump all the other things on your blog
like the opt in box, icons that spread the word for you
and anything else you have on the site. Instead,
compose in Notepad. Then cut and paste into your blog
post.
