Labor-Day Weekend Edition
One week of vacation wasn't enough but it was great. Luckily
Labor Day is right around the corner! But on my vacation, I
slept, re-read, Tim Ferris's "The 4-Hour Work Week" and realized
I hadn't implemented any of it. I sat on the beach, took walks
and watched the sail boats go by. And the weather was perfect.
High 70's to low 80's.
Then my husband, Christen, and I went to see
VickyChristinaBarcelona. (I love Woody Allen Movies)
I wanted to see Mama Mia and The Dark Knight too but just
couldn't tear myself away from the beach! (We saw Mama Mia the
next weekend!)
I
also really used this time to evaluate where I am in my business
and where I want to go. Sometimes our most creative times are
when we are quiet and give the mind a rest. One of my
students called it "bath time" which is how she gets quiet
so she can hear her inner voice..
It's amazing to look back and realize how much my business has
grown. And how gratifying it is to have students who couldn't
get an ebook done jumping with joy over their creations! Or
watching a student go from no income to $15,000 to $20,000 a
month!
And, what I've learned is that there are
different stages in your business and your goals and desires can
change over time. You learn skills and they get you to a point
and then you need different skills and it’s a never-ending
process.
(I was just reading about all the changes
eBay is making, so trust me when I say we’re all tinkering with
our businesses all the time! ) because the key is to continue to
provide better and better services and products in the most
efficient and effortless way possible.
You also learn about yourself, what you love
to do and what you don’t love to do what you are good at and
what would better be left to someone else. And as long as you have the courage to keep
being honest with yourself, and take action, you never have to settle for
something that isn’t working for you, you just have to adjust
course and continue to learn.
For me that means more systems, less
busy-work, and more time with my students!
On my vacation I realized 2 things that I
needed to do IMMEDIATELY! And took action:
1. Unsubscribed from a lot of lists that weren’t relevant to what I
am working on right now, (I got more efficient at email to save
time so I have more time for you!)
2. I will continuously
ask myself, "Is this something I need to do or can somebody else
do it? And then have the discipline to NOT do it if
someone else can!
I hope you follow my lead and and
TAKE ACTION to keep growing and refining your business, working smarter and
making more money!
Oh, and if you haven’t
done this lately……take a vacation! You never know what break
through you can have until you do!
