“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up”-Thomas Edison

A Personal Note from Ellen

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Today, I want to share my thoughts about love….

I love my husband, my family, and my friends. I love knowledge; I am a lifetime learner as are all successful entrepreneurs. I love truth; the truth shall set you free. I love hugs and kisses and love. I love peace and wish we had more of it.  And I love that I have made some big changes in my business and in my life.

The last 3 months of last year were the worst. My husband was in a coma and almost died and I had a cracked, infected tooth that robbed me of 3 months of my life with constant intense pain and ultimately, oral surgery. I got behind in my work (I’m still catching up) and it was very stressful. So, I hired a coach, I got clear on my goals, not just business goals, but health goals too, and started taking more time to take care of me on a daily basis.

I learned some big lessons along the way,  too.  Everything happens in God’s time, not mine (darn!),  and life is like an onion; it is revealed in layers.  It’s not like I had never hired a coach before, or never had goals before, but it had never come together in a way that it has now.  And the key was persistence. I never gave up, I never stopped searching for answers to the challenges I was having. It doesn’t mean I won’t have more. Every time you solve one challenge, life presents a new one, so there is always something more to learn. But, it is also about learning to be okay where you are and loving yourself through it.

So, I want to ask you a question… what can you do to love your business and yourself more?

Enjoy yourself this Valentine’s Day and commit to loving yourself no matter! And if you are having trouble doing that here’s a secret that has helped me through some dark times: Help someone who needs what you have to offer even if you don’t make a dime doing it. It will make your day. Plus, what you put out does come back!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

That’s it for now…..

How to Master your Mindset (The #1 Key to Success)

There are actually four keys to success: Mindset, Deliverables, Consistency, and Accountability,  and you need to master all four of them to be successful. You can have all the information in the world, the right products and programs, consistency,  and accountability, but if you don’t have the right mindset, you won’t succeed.  If you have 3 and one of them is missing, it might work for a while, but ultimately, you won’t succeed.

Mindset is the #1 key: what you think determines what actions you take. And, the actions you take are what ultimately lead to success. It also has to do with belief in yourself. If you think you can do something, you will do it, if you think you can’t,  you won’t. So how do you get yourself to believe you can do something that you don’t think you can do?

Here are 7 steps to mastering your mindset:

1. Decide that you are going to succeed at it no matter what; that is the first step.

2. Focus. Remove all the distractions and stop watching webinars and hanging out on social media by the hour.

3. Get started. Decide on a goal,  and then work backwards to set up a schedule to get it done.

4. Find a coach who has done what you want to do who can walk you through it.
(Be willing to spend the money to educate yourself, because if you don’t,  it will cost you far more in lost time, money, and energy, and could derail your dreams forever if you get so discouraged that you just give up.)

5. Take baby steps, but take action. Nothing happens until you take action. But, if you bite off too much at one time, you will overwhelm yourself, and do nothing. That’s why it’s best to cut the project down into baby steps.Plus, when you take a step and you succeed, it gives you more confidence.

6.  Get feedback.  You have to be willing to do something poorly before you are can do it well. When you get feedback, you will be guided toward making whatever it is, great! For instance, I have been working on a collaboration book, How to Crush it in Business without Crushing Your Spirit, How Entrepreneurs Can Overcome Depression and Find Success. I had a cover created,  and I got feedback. The feedback wasn’t great, so I did it again, and again, and again, until the feedback I got was amazing! It took four designers and four months to get it right, but I couldn’t have done it without feedback! Note: One great place to get feedback is in our private Facebook group at www.facebook.com/groups/bestsellerbusinessblueprint

7. Remove “failure” from your vocabulary.  Failures are just opportunities to learn and get better at what you are trying to accomplish. But, if you find yourself feeling like you’ve failed on a regular basis, you will spiral downward. (I know because it happened to me!) In that case, refer to #4. You have to break the cycle of lack of success, and coaching is the fastest and best way to do it.
