“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.Tell a friend, share with a friend!” -Vince Lombardi

A personal note from Ellen:

Forgiveness Day! Sunday, June 26th, This is a day to forgive and be forgiven.  Is there someone you have hurt that you need to ask forgiveness for? Or, is there someone who has hurt you?  What about yourself?  Is there something you need to forgive yourself for?

I think that, often time, we are harder on ourselves than on others and have a hard time forgiving ourselves for what we have done to ourselves. Today is the day to forgive and pamper yourself. Happy Birthday to the Twins! (My niece and nephew on their 26th birthday!) See specials for how I’m celebrating with you!

In personal news.…I got rear-ended back in November and got an immediate, and pretty bad, whiplash. I had to go to the chiropractor 3 times a week for quite a while. But, I’m happy to say, I’m better now and my case is being settled this week. If you get in an accident, hire an attorney right away. I say this because my dad was a personal injury and malpractice attorney and I saw the pain and suffering his clients went through. And what a lot of people don’t realize is that the attorney doesn’t get paid unless they win the case; they don’t get paid out of your pocket.

I have been rear-ended two other times and it takes a long time to heal, plus medical bills can add up. The problem is that sometimes it doesn’t show up right away and other times, people are reluctant to sue. I am just grateful that my medical bills were paid, getting damages is just icing on the cake. It’s been a very political week. We pay attention to what’s going on because we know it has real consequences in our lives in the lives of those we love, and around the globe.

The Democrats filibustered on the Senate floor, and then had a sit-in in the House of Representatives. It reminded me of the 60′s. Now Britain has left the EU; these are uncertain times. That’s why it’s more important than ever to take care of yourself and your business and not let fear prevail! Keep the faith.

That’s it for now…..

4 Time-Management Strategies for Becoming a Bestselling Author
I have been teaching people how to become authors since 2004 and I have found that there are 3 strategies that are the fastest and easiest to actually get the job done.

Strategy #1. The 3-Day Author. Pick 3 days in a row-usually a long weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and give your book your entire focus.  The best way to do this is to clear your calendar and send your family away for the weekend, or go to a hotel and hole up for the 3 days to work on your book.  Go to the market, if you are planning to write at home, and stock up.  Get everything you need so you won’t have to go out over the weekend. By giving it focused attention, your book can get done very quickly, especially when you use a step-by-step system.

Strategy #2. The Book-Writing Plan. Decide how much time you can give to writing your book per day or per week.  Put it on your calendar, and then stick to it. Use the carrot and stick approach; reward yourself for sticking to your schedule and give yourself demerits for not following through.  You may also want to get into an accountability group or work with a coach one-on-one as you write your book.

Strategy #3. Interview Books. Set up a series of interviews on the topics you want to cover, and then interview your experts. Transcribe the interviews. Tighten them up and edit them. This works really well when you want to cover topics that are not your expertise.

Strategy #4. The Collaborative-Book Plan. If you are stuck and can’t seem to get started, or you just don’t have time to write a book, consider a collaboration book.  Find a collaborative book on a topic you know something about.  Write your story. Generally, you only have to create a few pages of content and someone else will be in charge of doing the rest of the work: designing the book, setting up the launch, and coordinating all the marketing partners.

This is a great way to get started as an author (that is how I got started in 2004). There is a lot to learn when you are just getting started and by doing a collaborative book, you can focus on a few pieces and not get overwhelmed.  It’s also a great strategy for adding more books to your collection, which will give you even more credibility and additional streams of income.

Extra Tip: For strategies 1 & 2, to make the process go faster, you can talk your book instead of writing it. When people write, they, often time, judge their writing prematurely and try to edit as they are writing, which can slow you down or get you stuck. Tips For Keeping Affiliates Happy That Put More Money in Your Pockets!

If you want affiliates to market for you, you have to make it as easy as possible for them to do so. Affiliates are in it to make money and they are giving you access to their lists of people who know them, like them and trust them; they don’t want to deal with hassles. They can create their own programs if they want the headaches that come with a launch! (Don’t get me wrong, launches are great, but they are a lot of work, and there are always glitches.) So I want to share some of the issues you need to be aware of to make your affiliate program easy to use.

To set up an affiliate program, you need an ecommerce set up unless you use a site like JVZoo, Clickbank, or Paydot. JVZoo has the most sophisticated system of the 3 as it will allow you to set up funnels and let your affiliates offer bonuses through the system. But, if you have an ecommerce system, you’ll want to check with your provider to see how their system is set up. I recently set up a separate affiliate program for my upcoming collaborative book, How to Crush it in Business Without Crushing Your Spirit, How Entrepreneurs can Overcome Depression and Find Success, and it was a real eye-opener.

First of all, all of your lead magnets show up in one list even though you have different programs, so if you have several, it may be difficult for your affiliates to find the right one. Second, they have a section where you can upload your affiliate materials, but affiliates have to log into their account so they have to know their user name and password and then they have to know where to get the materials from the navigation bar.  It’s easy when you know how, but if you’re not at least a little tech savvy it can be overwhelming.

My rule of thumb is that if I’m finding something cumbersome and it makes me not want to do it, neither will my affiliates! So what I did was I created an affiliates tool page in WordPress. That way I could send affiliates directly to that page and they could get their materials there. The drawback to this solution, however, is that I can’t populate the page with their personal affiliate link. They have to add it. So, they are sent an email first, at least a week in advance, telling them what they can expect in the launch. I give them access to the affiliate-tools page right then, or tell them it’s coming and it contains their unique affiliate link. I also put it right on the page and in the email that if they have trouble or need help to contact the office.

Too many affiliate programs don’t have good customer support. Remember, there are plenty of affiliate offers out there and if you aren’t responsive to your affiliates, they will go somewhere else. So always make your affiliates a priority.  It’s also a good idea to call your best affiliates personally and give them a heads up. Affiliates are busy and they may not see your email, or they may glance at it and not really pay attention closely enough to decide they are in. If you don’t have too many, call them all! The more you reach out the more money you will make!
