Letter from the Editor

Happy New Year!

Did you have an awesome 2015? If not, hey don’t sweat it, you’ve got a clean slate! It’s a new year and you can make it whatever you want it to be!

And if you did. Awesome! Let’s make it even better!

I’ve got lot’s of great ideas in this week’s newsletter!

But first, the not so good news…I’ve been sick, which is a bummer, and so I am going to have to postpone my 3 Days to eBook Cash Workshop, but it’s okay because I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the new year, what I did well last year and what didn’t  go so well, and what I would have to do differently this year if I want to improve my business and my life.

I’ve studied with several experts the past few weeks and looked at many different approaches, taking what I like and what I don’t like about each and creating my unique plan the suits me. (If you missed my marketing training, I’ve decided to make it available for a while longer, but more about that in this week’s article.)

What I’ve discovered is that like everything else in growing you business, is you have to find something that resonates with you. And sometimes, you can’t get it from one person, sometimes you can.  You have to base it on where you want your business to go, which model works best for you and fits into your business plan, who resonates with you, how much accountability you feel you need, and your budget.

You also have to get real honest with yourself and ALLOW yourself to tap into what you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to do, not what you think you should do. And I know, it’s not always easy.  But, it is essential for a happy life!

The best lessons I’ve learned this year are:

1. It’s not what happens to you, but how you react to what happens to you that counts.

2) You are ultimately responsible for your own happiness

3) You must GENERATE your own enthusiasm and joy-it comes from within.

4) Lack of planning leads to chaos and stress.  You may already have known that, but I have a rebellious streak and I have resisted it for a long time.  I thought that to be creative you should not plan.  That doesn’t work in business. It’s difficult to get others to play with you when they don’t have a schedule to follow.  And many plan so far in advance that if you wait til the last minute, they will never be available for you!

5) You can do more than one thing if you plan your time well.  When I was starting out, the experts said you have to focus on one path and that’s it. So that’s what I did for eleven years. Then, as I was planning for this year, I thought, wait a minute, it’s been ELEVEN FREAKING years that I’ve put my music on the back burner! That is NOT okay.

It also helped that I listened to another creative expert saying that if you are creative, you HAVE to do more than one thing. Duh! And I recently worked with a client who was doing both! I’m just a little pissed at myself that it took me so long to figure this out. But, oh yeah, the next lesson was…

6) Forgive yourself and move on. I’m still working on that one!

And finally 7) Create healthy habits.

Here are just a few to get you started:

-Don’t open email first thing in the morning (68% of people do it, but it takes you off of your agenda)

-Get up from your desk every hour, breath 20 deep breaths as you gently bounce

-Start your day with a big glass of water

-Decide what you are enthusiastic about or could be enthusiastic about each day and schedule it,

-Create triggers to help you create new habits.

-Get a coach!

These are all from Brendon Burchard’s The Achievement Accelerator, which I enrolled in, and highly recommend if you can afford it.

And speaking of getting a coach….I’m looking for 5 people who are really serious and ready to commit to making a 6-figure income this year.
If that’s you, send an email to info@theebookcoach.com subject line “My 6-Figure Year!” and we’ll set up a time to talk.

In other business news… we have a best-seller launch coming up this week for one of our clients!  Stay tuned for that!

In personal news…there isn’t any. Just hanging out, working on getting well LOL!

That’s it for now…..

How to Crush It in 2016 in 5 Simple Steps!

1. Decide that you want different results. Decide that you are either tired of getting the results you’ve been getting, or you’re okay with them, but you really want more. Either way, you have to decide that you are ready for a change. Some people are motivated by pleasure others by pain. It’s less of a struggle if you are motivated by pleasure, but your motivation has to be STRONG!

2. Tap into your deepest desires. Know what you really really want to create-not what your parents or spouse wants you to do, not what other experts in your field are doing, not what you think you should do, but what you know in your soul is your true calling. I didn’t do very well in 2013. I just wasn’t happy. So, I decided to make some big changes in 2014.  And it went much better than 2013.  But, going into 2015, I still wasn’t satisfied. I felt like I was still denying parts of myself-mainly my music.

When I got onto the Internet, I was told I could only work on one niche. So, I kept putting off going back to my music. Getting ready for this year, I realized I had done that year after year for ELEVEN years!  And that’s just not okay. So one of my goals is to get my music up on line.  I don’t know how long it will take, but at least now it’s on my radar! Before it was buried so deep, I didn’t even know it was upsetting me!

3. Accept that there will be struggle and fear along the road to success and decide what methods you will use to combat them when they appear. Don’t think that there won’t be-there always is. So have a plan for dealing with them. This is what top athletes do. It’s a journey and you have to be willing to accept that there will be ups and downs and that you will get through it no matter what. You will not give up.

I can tell you from experience that I have put one foot in front of the other many times this past year not having a clue where I would end up. But, I just kept doing it. And all of the sudden, a couple of months ago, everything I had been working on since May 2014 suddenly made total sense. You see, that was when I created my first logo for my podcast and the initials were BBB and I LOVED it!

Then, the name of the podcast changed and the logo didn’t work. I had a podcast cover made, and had the voice overs done. Then, I scrapped it because it just wasn’t me. I had taken too much advice from other people and I wasn’t comfortable with it. In the meantime, I worked on revamping and simplifying my Bestseller Business Blueprint.  It wasn’t called that at the time. It was going to be called Best-seller to Business Pro just like the podcast. But that didn’t feel right because I was working with some fiction writers who didn’t want to be a business pro! Finally, I decided that Bestseller Business Blueprint worked better and guess what? The original design for the logo worked with some minor changes that are being made as we speak! This entire process took 18 months!

4. Create a plan for change. To create a plan for change you have to know yourself-what will work best for you. Do you want to do group coaching? Individual coaching? Both? A membership site? A podcast? A livestream?  How much energy do you have? How fast can you work? Do you have help? Can you get help? Do you have a coach? Accountability? When you will launch books and/or programs? What time you will set aside for learning etc? Mark your steps on your calendar for each goal once you know what they are as well as for learning.

5.  Work your plan. Nothing happens until you take action. You must believe that you are good enough and you can do it! And, you must be willing to take massive and consistent action. To do this you have to give up the desire to be perfect. You must be willing to “fail” You must accept that failure just means Forever Acquiring Important Lessons. Boy, I wish someone had told me this years ago! It would have saved me a ton of pain! And you must have that plan worked out that we discussed in #4.

Follow these 5 steps and you will grow your business, make more money, and have a lot more fun!

If  you are very serious, I’d like to work with you PERSONALLY and walk you through the process of creating and/or growing your business to 6- or even 7 figures, this will include setting up your marketing plan both for your business and your book (if you already have one. If not, we’ll create it!)

Tech Tips

Want to be able to easily manage or create Facebook ads on the go?

You can now do it right on your mobile phone right in Facebook.
It allows you to stay on top of your ads and check on how they are doing.
And it will also allow you to fix a typo and edit ads.

It will also tell you what each ad is costing you per click.
so can also turn off or pause ads at any time if they are underperforming or
costing you too much money to run.

In addition, if something serious happens in the world, people come to Facebook
and start sharing it and you may want to stop your ad at that point-until it passes
so you don’t look disrespectful or crass.

So basically, it gives you a lot more control over your ads.

To access the Facebook Ads Manager just go to the Facebook app.
Click on the “More” icon in the lower-right hand corner of your phone.
You will then see the “Ads Manager” and you can control your ads from there.
