Letter from the Editor

Happy Thanksgiving!

What I am most thankful for this year, is that my husband is still alive. I almost lost him twice this year. His resilience is amazing even after all he has been through this year – and at 84 years of age!

I’m grateful that they had a Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday night at the convalescent home and we got to spend some quality time together. I took his picture so I could show you how good he looks! (And of course, how cute he is!)

I’m grateful for my family and for my renewed relationship with my niece who I knew when she was a child, but drifted away with the miles between us, but is now a 25-year-old incredible woman who I communicate with regularly on Facebook! (And she’s  great writer too! It’s in the genes, I think.)

Here’s a picture of my niece Alex, with her boyfriend, David:

I am grateful for you, my clients, students, and subscribers, that you give me the opportunity to serve you and help you grow as an author and entrepreneur.

I am grateful to my colleagues who come out and play with me and support me, and this year, especially, T.R. Garland who really showed me the power of relationship marketing and using LinkedIn. To learn more about LinkedIn

I’m grateful to live in San Diego, California where the weather is mild and it’s beautiful. I can’t tell you how many days and nights I look at the sky with wonder here. It is truly a magical place.

I am grateful for Facebook. It has allowed me to reconnect with my brother and old friends, and to make new ones. In fact. my best friends are now people I originally met on Facebook!

And so much more……

What are you grateful for?

I’d love for you to  share what you are grateful for on Facebook at www.facebook.com/BookMarketingAuthorPros so I can support you!

Enjoy your weekend!

That’s it for now…..

7 Ways to Write a Best-Seller in time for the Holidays! (Or, the New Year)

If you want a best-seller for Christmas, or the New Year, it’s best to consider your topic and when the best time to launch would be. If you have a great idea for a gift book Christmas would be an excellent time to launch. But, if it’s a book on self-improvement, for instance, around the first of the year would be better because that is when people set goals for the year and want books to help them do it.  Here are 7 Ways to write an ebook for the holidays and when to write them.

1. Interview with an expert. This is by far the fastest way to create an ebook bar none! You can have someone interview you, or you can interview an expert. Each hour of interview gives you 40 pages of text.

This book is an example of this structure, Kindle Publishing: Expert Tips on How to Publish a Kindle Bestseller and  Profit from It with Derek Doepker by John Tighe It’s only 47 pages and sells for .99 on Kindle; it’s currently in the top 100 under “Marketing”

2. Share Case Studies. You can write up case studies of clients you have worked with and give commentary.  The topic would also dictate which time would be better for launching.

3. Share Quotes with commentary. Share quotes and add your interpretation of what each one means. If each one is a page, you’ll want to have a minimum of 50 quotes.

4. Compile Blog Posts or Articles into an eBook. Pick 5-7 topics and then clump posts or articles together by topic (generally in some sort of order
like chronological order or by easiest to hardest to implement for example.)

5. Q & A Book. If you give trainings or Q & A calls, you can compile the questions that you’ve received on a particular topic or several related topics into an ebook. Again, arrange them by subject matter and in the order that makes
the most sense.

6. Webinar or Video Trainings. Have them transcribed and turn them into a book.

7. Write a 3-Day eBook. If you want to write an ebook from scratch, this is the fastest way to do it. I show you how to create an outline and a quick method for filling it in so you can get it done in 3 days or less.

Searching for Periscopes

There is a lot of great free information on Periscope, but there is no way that I can tell to actually search for specific speakers or topics on Periscope. Instead, they are listed by time, and only those that were done in the last 24 hours
will appear in the feed.

But, there are ways to search, assuming that the presenter has set it up properly.

The fastest easiest way that I have found is to use katch.me.

You can log in using your twitter account so you don’t have to set up a new log in.

Go to the search bar at the top of the page and simply put in the name of the person or topic that you are looking for.

Here I put in “Periscope”

It brings up a drop-down menu that shows you a list of periscope related profiles and if they are doing periscopes and they have it set up properly, they will show up the page of the profile that you click on.
