“For me, life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.

Letter from the Editor

Happy Discoverers Day! This is the day that Columbus discovered the “New World” for Europeans, who, until then, believed the word was flat. Of course, Native Americans truly discovered America while Nordic explorers had travelled down the eastern coast of Canada thousands of years earlier.

Columbus took a huge risk traveling into the unknown, risking falling off the earth (if indeed it had been flat)! It takes courage to take big risks. But, the truth is people who take big risks aren’t fearless, they feel the fear and do it anyway.  So, my question for you this week is, what huge risk could you take that would change your business in a profound way? Think about it, and then JUST DO IT!

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Subscribers!

Thoughts for the week: I saw a post on Facebook that had blatant, inflammatory, outrageous misinformation on it. I debated whether or not to add my two cents to the conversation, but I couldn’t resist. I have been warned by some of my closest friends to stay away from political discussions on Facebook and I don’t get into anywhere near as many as I used to. And of course, I always keep it civil.

But, I understand why they say that. It can lose you business. I actually did lose a client once over something I wrote on Facebook. And ironically, I didn’t think it was that controversial!  But, people can get pretty crazy on Facebook when it comes to politics.

I find that being on Facebook as a citizen of the world and being on Facebook as a business owner can definitely be at odds with each other and I find that very difficult to deal with at times. I have always been “political”; I chose to go to UC Berkeley, which I think says volumes about me.  And I believe in shedding light where I can and educating people.

I have also always believed that all it takes is for good people to do nothing for terrible things to happen in the world as witnessed in the Holocaust. And being Jewish, I am very sensitive to that. So, if I ever offend you, I apologize in advance. But, I will not stop commenting where I feel I must.

In personal news...I have a confession to make.  I’ve been fighting depression the last few days. I’ve had a series of things to deal with lately. First, I had an issue with Verizon because I authorized a $200 payment and they took $1031 out of my bank account, which has been having repercussions since July because they won’t take responsibility for their mistake.

Then, my car died. I also have some legal issues to deal with because I was naive when I set up my LLC and it wasn’t done right-although in the long run it’s a good thing-soon I can move on and get past this! At the same time, I had a client who had a deadline to get a book and promo sheet out and there were several vendors involved; I wasn’t sure we would make the deadline, but we did.  Plus, I had my regular clients workload, which has increase dramatically in recent months (which is a good thing!);  plus a video summit I’m involved in; and a 50th Celebration for Donna Kozik’s program; and my husband with his health issues, and it just got to be too much; I got sick.

And then, today as I was starting to feel better, I got rear-ended in the parking lot on my way to the market.  I was waiting for a car to back out of a space so I could take it, and another guy backing up behind me, backed up right into me. He hit my car pretty hard. The car is okay except for some scrapes, but I got a whiplash. Ugh. Thank God, Christen is fine.

Sometimes, it’s just like that and it’s too much. That is when you are susceptible to getting depressed or sick or both, and you just have to slow down. I slept for two days.  I am not telling you this to complain, but to tell you that we all go through tough times, and if you are going through a tough time, you are not alone.  Churchill said, “When  you are going through hell just keep going!” Good advice!

That’s it for now…..

How to Build a content Marketing Strategy from  the Ground Up (Part 2)

If you missed part 1 of this article you can read it at:

7. Change your article content by 30% or hire someone to do it for you and put it on E-zine Articles. You can also put it in other top directories, if you have time or can outsource it. (Other top directories include: ehow.com, hubpages.com, seekingalpha.com, and examiner.com.) You can find writers who can rewrite your articles on Fiverr, Elance, Guru.com, or Upwork. To make the process easier, you can also use a free article distribution service. For a list of services go to:

8. Look for Guest-blogging Opportunities. Change your original articles again by at least 30% or write new articles for guest blogs in your niche. One perfectly placed guest blog can explode your business. (For social proof read this article Click Here)

9. Post your content in as many places as possible so that it reaches even more of your ideal audience, for example in Facebook groups, forums, and discussion boards.

10. Create & Post Ads. If you are willing to spend a little bit of money, you can create Facebook or Twitter ads to get more traffic to your content. Just $5 a day is all it takes on Facebook. Or, if you aren’t willing to commit to a daily budget, you can start by boosting individual posts on your business page.

11. Analyze Stats. Each time you go through this process, you will get feed- back from your audience in the form of views, likes, comments, and shares. Continue to write on the topics that are of most interest to your audience and you’ll attract more clients and customers than you ever dreamed of.

12. Write eBooks. Take the topics of most interest to your ideal customers and turn them into eBooks. You can do this by taking your articles and ar- ranging them by subtopics into chapters. Put them on Kindle and use the KDP-Select promotion for massive exposure and book sales. Do this the right way and you can become a best-selling author!

While there are more advanced strategies that can be added to your content marketing, if you follow this blueprint, you’ll be ahead of 90% of your competitors. Plus, by having a process to follow, it will stop stress and overwhelm, and help you reach a wide targeted audience for your products and services.

Please consult at attorney before making any legal decision about your copyrights.

If you have an LLC, your copyrights are not automatically covered under it. You must assign it to the LLC in writing. But, you don’t want to do that because if the LLC ever goes bankrupt, it will own the copyrights and they proceeds from them will go to your creditors. Instead, you can assign a license granting your LLC all the rights you want to allow it but still do whatever you want with it as an author. If someone offers you big bucks for your company you can, at that time, assign all rights to the LLC if you so choose.
