“You can’t make everyone happy, you are not pizza!”

Letter from the Editor

September 11th Remembrance Day!

On this day we remember those innocent lives that were taken in a senseless act of terrorrism.

Also, Happy New Year to my Tribe! (Rosh Hashanah). May it be joyous and prosperous!  ( I wish that for everyone of course!)

In business news….I have an ongoing issue with Verizon (They took money that I didn’t authorize and it has caused much inconvenience.) the upshot is that my phone is presently out of order. It should be restored tomorrow or Monday. But, if you need to speak with me, please send an email to info@theebookcoach.com with your Skype handle or contact me through Facebook.  Sorry, for the inconvenience. But, it’s a great lesson in how NOT to treat your customers.

When you give bad information that costs your clients money, refund it, and/or offer additional service for FREE! And don’t make them beg to get it! Secondly, don’t make them have to go through 6-10 people to get help, assign a person to their case.

And don’t tell them, they are wrong when they tell you what the problem was because your automatic system says it didn’t happen that way. (The automated system was wrong!) And don’t then charge your customers an additional fee to get reinstated when it was YOUR fault! And most of all, don’t keep saying you’re sorry and then do nothing or very little to rectify the situation!

And one last thought, this is where small businesses have an advantage:  don’t have an inflexible automated system.  Small businesses can make exceptions and help their clients better than large ones can. In the case of Verizon, their system is automated so it shuts down your service when certain criteria is met regardless of who is at fault, and the responsibility for rectifying it falls on the shoulders of the consumer regardless. Evidently, they don’t feel the need to keep customers or not. But, you should! Their service is so far superior to the competition in some ways that they don’t care.  Not a good way to do business; it will catch up to them at some point.

In other business news….Everything is a lesson!

We’re growing! That’s the good news. The bad news is we’re having growing pains! Whenever you solve one problem, you create another one. And now we’re working on making everything work more smoothly!

Another issue lately is that the dollar is very strong right now, which drives up the price of my programs and services in other parts of the world. So, I am working with my clients to help them get access to what they need from me during this trying time for them.  So, if you’ve been wanting to work with me and you were holding off because of the exchange rate, let’s talk and we’ll figure out a plan for you.

Also, I recently released eBook Marketing Mastery on the super early-bird and rather than offering it the way I wanted to do it, I offered it based on the results I got form the survey I did on it.  But, it just wasn’t feeling right to me so I have decided to make some changes to it. I am going to create it the same way that I created the Best-Seller eBook Launch Program-documenting what I’m doing as I go and sharing my results. I was just trying to do too much at one time. You can learn more under announcements.

I’m also very excited about my next book, which is just in the planning stages: How to Kill It In Your Business Without Killing Your Spirit. I’m still working on the subtitle, but the domain name is overcomingdepressionforentrepreneurs.com  which is long, but it is what it’s about.

FYI I made a big mistake on the last book, I thought it was ready to go when it wasn’t and it’s turned into a very long process (almost finished!). But, anyone who bought it when it came out will get this one for FREE! I owe it to you!

That’s it for now…..

4 Questions You MUST Be Able to Answer Before You Can Market Your eBook or Book Effectively!

1. Who is your ideal book buyer or, client you are trying to attract through your book writing? You can’t tailor your message to your market if you don’t know who it is you are trying to reach!  Different groups of people will need to be approached differently, and you want to reach the ones who are the most attractive to you.  If you try to market to “everyone” you will fail. It’s too big of a market, and the message won’t be right for any particular group. It’s much better to figure out who it is you want to reach and then create a message specifically for them-both in your title and in your marketing materials.

2. What social-media sites are you most likely to be find your ideal buyers or clients on and how do they consume the information? If you want to reach your ideal buyers and/or clients you have to go where they are. So you’ll have to do some research to find out where they are.  Pinterest attracts more women, while LinkedIn attracts more business-oriented people etc. You can find the demographic make up of the major social media sites here: CLICK HERE

You also need to know how they consume their information. So for instance, millenials favor smart phones and baby boomers spend the most time online. Know your audience to market to them effectively!

3. What is your budget? Having a budget gives you more options, but anyone can market-even with little or no cost. Knowing how much money you have to spend, will help to pick the best options to get the biggest bang for you advertising dollars! And remember, you can get started advertising on Facebook for as little as $5 a day. So, don’t rule it out without checking it out! What makes Facebook so attractive is that you can target your audience with amazing specificity! And, if you do it right, you can make money from your $5 and keep reinvesting it.  But, as I said, if you don’t have any money to spend, don’t worry, there are a  plethora of free tactics and strategies that you can use to get your marketing off the ground!

4. What is the message (topics) you need to share with them to get their attention? Once you know who you are targeting and where to reach them, you’ve got to know what type of content is going to capture their attention so you have to know what challenges they are having that keep them up at night that you can solve and how to craft your message in a way that gets their attention.  There is so much information out there that it’s easy to get lost in the crowd if you don’t understand what makes them tick and how to tap into it.

Once you can answer these 4 questions, you’ll be able to profit from your books and other products and services through your marketing. Ignore them, and you risk wasting your time, energy and money on marketing that simply won’t work!
