“Vision without execution is merely hallucination.” ~Albert Einstein

Letter from the Editor

Happy V-J Day! On August 14, 1945 the Japanese surrendered ending World War 2, and it was announced to the world on August 15. It was a very scary time, especially for the Jews in Europe. My family was lucky because they were already in America. But, my parents had friends when I was growing up who weren’t so blessed. The father of my best friend and neighbor at the time lost his entire family except for his brother.

It was a great day for America and the world when the war ended! And we commemorate it this weekend.

In business news, I listened to a talk by top marketer, Gary Vaynerchuk that was riveting.  (You can find it on my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ellenviolette if you want to listen to the whole talk. You’ll have to scroll through the posts to find it.)

Here are the takeaways; he made three critical points.

Point 1. Focus on your strengths. Don’t try to do everything and strengthen your weaknesses, which is one of the things I always say (especially when it comes to formatting your ebooks).

Point 2. People don’t have enough time; it the most precious commodity, so if you can save people time with whatever you offer, you will be in the position to succeed.

Point 3. Ideas aren’t a big deal, it’s EXECUTION that matters. Good stuff!

In other business news, I’ve been studying Periscope. I tried to do my first “scope” and it bombed (We all go through the learning curve!).  When you turn on Periscope, it shows what is in front of you. To stream yourself, you have to double tap on the screen to change it so the camera faces you, but it wasn’t doing it. And to make matter worse, it turned out a bunch of people were following me live! So, today I did a private session! Stay tuned, we should be live soon!

I also watched my first scope and it was a kick!

You can Periscope to grow your list, share information, give a behind-the-scenes look at something that’s going on in your business, to sell products and a lot more, and I’ll be sharing how to do this in eBook Empire Builders once I have a clearer handle on it and in my upcoming eBook Marketing Mastery Program. (Note: If you are afraid of making mistakes in public, this takes it to a new level! It’s LIVE streaming. It’s about being authentic and raw and I have to say on today’s private streaming I thought I looked awful! How fun is that??? NOT)

But, I still want to urge you to, at least, sign up for an account  now. You can get it free in the app store. You just need an iPhone or Android. And then, go over to Periscope and watch some scopes-even if you aren’t ready to do it yourself.

And I have to say, my first thought was, “Oh no, not another social-media site to learn!” But, people I respect are using it and loving it. And one thing I know for sure is that when you get on any new  platform, you get a huge advantage;  it’s easier to build a community more quickly, plus make more money.

Now, I have to admit, I have NOT been a quick adapter in the past. In fact, I am ashamed to admit that I  took a podcasting program YEARS ago, and did nothing. Now it’s come around a second time, and I’m doing it. But, I didn’t want to miss the boat on Periscope because it was clear to me that this one is a winner. It’s owned by Twitter. Need I say more?

And speaking of too much to do….I’m always coming up with new ideas as I’m sure you are too. It’s what we creative types do! And sometimes, I get frustrated because I can’t possibly implement them all. That’s why it’s so important to prioritize your ideas and pick the ones that are most important to you and don’t beat yourself up for the ones that get away!

And finally this week, I had an “Aha” moment. I worked with a client, laying out her outline for her first book. It went so well that I’ve decided to offer this service on a regular basis; up until now it is only been available in my high-end writing coaching program, Write Your eBook NOW! But, I want to help as many people as possible, and this will make it more accessible to more people-very exciting!

In personal news, I attended a webinar with Dr. Josh Axe, the other night, speaking about healing leaky gut and your adrenals and if you have a lot of stress in your life (which authors and entrepreneurs often have) you might want to check him out.

I found him to be very impressive. In case, this can help someone, here’s what I learned from him:

The best healing foods include:
-bone broth
-chicken soup
-coconut oil
-sauerkraut
-blueberries
-and orange squash/pumpkin.

But, he said if something doesn’t agree with you, cut it out immediately. He also recommended digestive enzymes, l-glutamine, and the herbs ginseng, licorice, and ashwagangha.  You can learn more about him and his programs at www.draxe.com

In other personal news… today would have been my parent’s 67th Wedding Anniversary. Love you and miss you mom and dad!

That’s it for now…..

7 Ways to Connect on LinkedIn with your Ideal Customers & JV Partners for More Sales & Bigger Sales in Less Time!

LinkedIn is all about connecting, and the site gives you many ways to do it. In fact, making connections is the number-one priority on LinkedIn for entrepreneurs. The better connections you make, the faster you will grow your community, find ideal clients, and gain incredible opportunities. Here are 7 ways to get started:

1. Search for targeted leads and joint-venture partners. You can do a search in LinkedIn. Just put in the keywords for your target audience and see who comes up. It is a much more efficient use of your time if you look for the best leads and partners rather than connecting with everyone, and then trying to separate the wheat from the chaff.

2. Join groups. Groups are set up around specific niches and topics, so by joining groups that focus on your topic, you will have access to better leads and  partners automatically. In addition, you’ll be able to join in the conversation, share your expertise, make connections, and genuinely help people who are looking for the solutions you offer. And doing this will get your better leads, more opportunities, and clients!

3. Post articles. Posting articles is another way that you can show that you are an expert in your field and attract your ideal audience to you. It also allows people to comment on your posts, which lets you know who is interested in your topic. And, in addition, LinkedIn lets you know how many people are viewing each post so you can see which ones get the most interest.  You can then use this information to create other articles,  and more lucrative products and services around the same topic.

4. Connect with other university alumni. Find your University under “Alumni” and search for contacts whom you know. You can also find other alumni you may not know but who have common interests (based on their profiles) In addition, you may find that people you have connects with on other social-media sites, and/or who are already on your subscriber list are alumni, and this will give you something to talk about with them to help make a deeper connection.

5. Wish people a happy birthday or congratulations on their achievements. Facebook tells you when your “friends” are having a birthday, but LinkedIn also tells you when your connections have a milestone of achievement. Take these opportunities to reach out. It will remind people about you, plus, you never know where it will lead!

6. Share an update. When you share an update, it gets you in front of your connections while hopefully, at the same time, it shares some good information with them that will appreciate.

7. Check out your feed. Your feed will show new posts and articles from your connections as well as new jobs and invitations to join groups. When you find topics that interest you in your feed, you can click on them, and then decide how you want to engage if you do, i.e. share a comment, like, join a group, join someone’s email list (if their post connects to their website). While the first 6 ways I’ve shared are all within LinkedIn, checking your feed can lead you off of LinkedIn to a person’s site and to more detailed information about them which might lead to a faster or deeper connection right off the bat.

There are so many ways to connect on LinkedIn, but these 7 should get you started. If you want to discover more ways to connect and how to engage with people, join eBook Empire Builders (soon to be Best-Seller to Business Pro Association) CLICK HERE We do a training every month and when you join now you’ll get access to 6 additional trainings valued at $592 plus last month’s training on Setting up  your LinkedIn Profile for Profit!

Tech Tips

How to get started with Periscope (You’ll need an iPhone or Android)

To set it up CLICK HERE
(Scroll down to the section on Periscope)

Watch other people’s scopes first.

Then, start with a private stream unless you are very brave (but I don’t recommend it!)

Decide who your private chat partner will be and contact him or her to get his or her handle.

To do a private chat, hit the broadcast tab at the bottom of the screen

(There are 4 tabs; this is the one you want.)

Then hit the lock button (second from the left) on the next screen.

(Periscope is so new that that there aren’t a lot of pictures out there, and I only have one phone so I can’t take a picture of it,but you can’t miss it!)

Invite the person you are doing it with from your list of followers (It will show up on the screen after you hit the lock button.)
You only need one to do a private chat.

And don’t worry if you mess up because no one can see you except your scope buddy!

Have fun!
