“You will never “find” time for anything. If you want time, you must make it.”
-Charles Bruxton

Letter from the Editor

“Embrace Your Geekness” Day! Is there an inner geek inside of you? I didn’t think I had one, but surprise, I do!

I LOVE using tools that help me do my business better, faster, and easier! But, do I love all the geek stuff? No! So, what I do is I take on a new geek problem at a time, master it if I can, and if I can’t, I turn it over to someone who thinks that task is fun.  Or, if I decide it is just something I don’t want to do, then I hand it over to somebody else.

These days, I’m playing with Canva where you can make your own graphics.  I heard people saying how easy it was,  so I checked it out. And it wasn’t easy for me as it turned out the site wasn’t working too well on my computer, so it wasn’t responding the way it was supposed to.

But, once I got it worked out, I started making basic report covers and banners.  I’m using it mostly to create layouts that I like, and then giving it to my Fiverr.com designer who created my logo etc. so his team will match the lettering. (I used to be a layout person for magazines so that part is right up my alley.)

My point is, step out of your comfort zone. Try stuff! Some will work, some won’t. Some you’ll like, some you won’t.  But, I bet you’ll find some tools that work really well for you and you’ll start to really enjoy it! And if not, no big deal.

BTW: All the graphics for geekness were people wearing glasses and I didn’t like the stereotype, so if you’re a designer who wants to sell your graphics make some geeky designs without using glasses on your peeps!

In other business news….The Best-seller to Business Pro Podcast now has it’s own website where you can register for upcoming events & notices (See Announcements) Woo-hoo!

I’ve been working on a bevy of new marketing and done-for-you programs (all related) that I’m very excited about! I’ll be sharing more on this very soon!

I’m doing it because Best-Seller eBook Launches are great for making a splash, getting buzz, become #1, getting some targeted traffic, and making sales in the short term, but what about the other 85 days in each 90-day cycle when you aren’t doing a promotion?  Can’t wait to share!

And I put up a new banner on Facebook. If you go and check it out it’s at www.facebook.com/ellenviolette and you’ll see. I’ve got the layout, but as I mentioned, now I have to send it in to Fiverr so the text can be designed to match my other branding materials.

In personal news, I’m fighting a cold so there’s no freebie this week because I couldn’t find one and I ran out of steam. I have to rest. Sorry.

That’s it for now…..

9 Tips to Becoming a Successful Kindle Author

1. Decide that you deserve it. If you don’t think you deserve to be a successful author, you will make sure that you never become one. This can be tricky because many authors tell themselves all kinds of nonsense to stop them from writing when, in fact, they are all just ways to stop you because, underneath it all,  you don’t feel deserving of it.

2. Figure out what is motivating you. Writing can be discouraging if you don’t know what you’re doing. Some authors get stuck in the writing process, others finish the writing process, but then get bogged down trying to finish it, or dealing with the technical aspects. Others just push themselves too hard and end up exhausted before they get to the finish line!  If you don’t know what’s motivating you, it’s easy to give up when you hit a snag.  But, when you have a big “why”,  it  can, often times, keep you going until you reach your goal!

3. Be confident. If you start writing a book believing that you aren’t enough of an expert so why should anyone listen to you? You may not succeed. You have to believe in your talent and in yourself. And if you don’t, it will be too easy to give up. Or, worse, never even start!

4. Make it a priority. What you focus on expands, so when you make writing your book a priority, it will get done!

5. Write something that you are passionate about. Passion fuels action.  When you have a passion for something, it gives you energy. When you lack it, it can drain you and that’s an easy way to lose motivation.  So, pick something that brings you joy!

6. Pace yourself. Creating a book is a process to be enjoyed.  In my 3 Days to eBook Cash Workshop, I show aspiring authors how to pace themselves for the 3 day process; most authors take a lot longer than 3 days to write a book or ebook and too many of them push themselves too hard ad burn out before they complete the book!

7. Do What is in Front of You instead of constantly looking at the whole project, which can be overwhelming. Create a step-by-step outline of what needs to be done and then fill it in. (In the 3 Days to eBook Cash Workshop, you’ll get this included.) BTW: Even top champions like Serena Williams have to do this to stay at the top of their game!

8. Create a Book & eBook. Amazon has a program that promotes both your book and ebook called “Matchbook”. You’ll make more money when you have both a book and ebook. Amazon also has other great tools, so it’s important to educate yourself so you don’t miss out on any of them.

9. Get as Many Reviews as you Can! More reviews mean more marketing help from Amazon and more sales.  Too many authors spend a lot of time on their books and then fail to get reviews. This is a HUGE mistake. People trust reviews more than marketing so they stimulate sales!

There are many ways to get reviews. The easiest way is to ask! Go to friends, colleagues, you social-media friends, Amazon reviewers, and Goodreads (you can swap reviews with other authors there) to name a few. Note: if you need more help contact me at info@theebookcoach.com to find the best coaching solution for you, but get it done!  You won’t make sales without them, PERIOD!

Successful authors know how important these 9 tips are to creating Amazon success; they use them to create best-sellers and grow real businesses. Unsuccessful author’s don’t. So, spend some time going over them and see which ones resonate-where you need work and take action.

Once you have these down, the rest is easy-just follow a writing blueprint.  To get started go to Amazon and get a copy of my ebook: How to Make Money Writing Quick Non-Fiction eBooks…Guaranteed!
