Happy 25th Anniversary to my husband, Christen!

Twenty-five years ago on May 8, 1990, my husband and I got married at the Graceland Chapel in Las vegas. We were NOT married by an Elvis impersonator,but by a Southern Baptist minister.

We were in Las Vegas for the wedding of a friend and it just seemed like it was time. We had been together for 5 years and living together most that long.

We discussed it over a lovely dinner at one of my favorite Vegas restaurants-Pomplemousse. Christen was hesitant, not because he didn’t love me, but because we weren’t “financially secure”. But being in the music business, I had no idea when that would be, and I was 37 at the time. So, I talked him into it and I married my best friend.

I feel so lucky to have found someone who loves, appreciates, and supports me emotionally. I am not going to lie-we’ve had our ups and downad and its been difficult at times-especially this last year. The truth is I came very close to losing him, so I am especially grateful that we are still here, together.

I knew he was the one and he still is!

In business news, I’m having major problems with Verizon and my Internet isn’t working properly so if I haven’t responded, or I haven’t caught up on something promised, that’s why. I appreciate your patience.

I have been getting out of my comfort zone a lot lately! I got my first sponsor for an upcoming Twitter party we’ll be having to kick off my Best-seller to Business Pro Podcast. My fingers are crossed that we will finally launch in the next month.

I’ve also been working on getting more organized as I expand my business, and I’ve been getting caught up on loose ends -putting more systems into place and getting as many tasks as possible off my plate so I can focus more on what I do best.

And I have been getting more and more certainty about what I do and how I do it. And as I do that something pretty great has been happening. clients start to “self-select” and the ones not worth my time have been taken out of my coaching without me having to fire them, which makes more room for more awesome clients!

This shift is amazing!  And I would love to work with anyone who is ready to make the big shift in his or her life without a lot of drama!

In other business news, we did another best-seller launch this week for a children’s book. That was our first children’s book and we hit #1, which just proves to me again that this process works in ANY genre! (See announcements)

Also, I posted this on Facebook on Saturday for the Kentucky Derby and wanted to share it here as well:

The 141st running of the Kentucky Derby is coming up! The sportscaster asked the jockey if he had a strategy. You need one because there are a lot of young horses in this race. The ones on the outside run a lot farther and the ones inside can get squeezed out. Trainers and jockeys work together on it. And there are many factors to consider-the running style of the horse, the condition of the track etc. and depending on what the other horses do during the race, jockeys sometimes have to change strategies midstream.

It’s the same with a book promotion. You have to have a strategy based on what you are trying to achieve: #1 best-seller status? building a list of leads?customers? more book sales? More backend sales? And/ or a long- term passive income strategy?

If you don’t have the right strategy for what you want to achieve, you could be sorely disappointed. And sometimes circumstances outside your control force a change in strategy here too.

9 Steps to Getting Best-Seller Ranking on Kindle with your eBook!

6. Publish it
Once you have everything done and uploaded in it’s final form, publish it.  To publish all you do is press the “save and continue” button on the upload  page.

7. Get Reviews
It is very difficult, if not impossible, to get your ebook downloaded, let a lone make sales, without 4 & 5-star reviews. Many of the announcement sites require you to have 4-6, of them before they will announce your ebook. And Amazon will give you additional marketing support if you have 25-25 reviews. But 6 is good to get you started.

You can ask family, friends, colleagues, customers, subscribers, and/or Amazon reviewers-just not anyone with your last name as their reviews will be denied because they will be seen as biased.

Also, verified reviews, or reviews based on ebooks that have that have been purchased, carry more weight than promotional ones with Amazon. So it’s better to let your reviews purchase the ebook and then reimburse them than to give them free ones whenever possible.

8. Pick your Promotion Days

You can’t set a promotion until you book has been published which is why you must upload it and check it first. You can set the promotion dates before getting reviews, but I like to get the reviews first so I know that I’ve got my ducks in a row and I’m ready to go!

Which days you pick and how many days you choose will depend on your strategy.  If you want a more leads than sales, choose a longer promotion (4-5 days).  If you want to get to #1, and get some leads, but you want sales too pick a shorter promotion. The biggest traffic days are Sunday and Monday, so use those days to your greatest advantage depending on your strategy.

9. Announce it

A cottage industry has grown up around the Amazon promotions. There are over 75 sites that will announce your promotion for free and there are many free ones for free promotions than for Countdown ones. This is what makes it so attractive for newbies and anyone who doesn’t want to put in a lot of time and effort (Remember, this can be outsourced and the way we can do it is part of our secret to success!) But, whether you do it yourself or outsource it, it has to be done for a successful launch unless you are using powerful joint-venture partners. So get your promotion in as many announcement sites as possible.

Follow these 9 steps and you’ll be all set for your promotion!  Get ready for the ride because it’s going to be a blast!
