“Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there is sure to be failure” -Confucius

Letter from the Editor Happy Tell A Story Day!

The best way to get your message across to your audience is with stories.

So start collecting stories that you can share to illustrate your points. Use them in your conversations,  your webinars and/or teleseminars, and wherever possible in your written communications.  They will help you make more sales and get more customers.

What kind of stories?

Stories about how you’ve helped your clients succeed where they were failing. And most importantly, your story. How you came to do what you do so brilliantly! This is your “million-dollar” story! The one that lets people know you’ve been there, you understand their pain, and so you CAN help them!

So this weekend, start thinking about what stories you could tell to let customers and clients know how awesome you are at what you do?

In business news, first I want to give a big Congrats! to Stephanie Scheller on her #1 Best-Seller “Friend Power, How the Friends you Choose can Change the Course of your Life!” in TWO categories! Stephanie started with the Crushing Kindle Call where I helped her come up with the title, choose her best keywords, categories and pricing, then she went through the Best-Seller eBook Launch Secrets Homestudy Program, and then had me walk her through the uploading process.

After that,  my team got it in all the announcement sites for her and it SHOT to the top!   She hit #1 at #244 in the Kindle books, which was incredible and now she’s down to #168-FANTASTIC!!

I also want to give a shout-out to everyone who bought The Super Funnel. I’m in the process of getting everyone into an autoresponder and I started looking to a topic for the first leg of my funnel. I had promised to do a live call, but I see Alex is doing one, so I’ll hold off and see what every needs after that. I’m thinking it might be cool to document my process. We’ll see.

In other business news….This was also a break-through week for me. My thinking shifted. I finally decided to start valuing what I do at a higher level and valuing my time. Something happened that got my attention. I took on an editing job a while back without looking at the actual work before giving a quote. And it ended up being a lot more work than what I had quoted. I did the job for what I said I would do it for, but at that moment, I vowed to never do it again.

And I promised myself that I would no longer take on jobs that take too long and pay too little for my effort, because my time is better spent other ways. And it’s amazing how the universe supports you when you break through resistance and accept! That is how the law of attraction works! As soon as I made that decision, things changed. I immediately found a VA who has taken some of the workload off of me.

You’re making more money so you can afford to outsource more.  I’ve also become more mission focused after reading James Malinchak’s new book, Millionaire Success Secrets.

It’s really interested to watch your own growth. It is a two-pronged process, the inner game and the outergame. You have to have the chops, but you also have to work on yourself. As the saying goes, you can only grow your business as you grow yourself!

But, you can only grow you business as you have the tools to grow it too!  And this leads me to a short rant. I get really annoyed when people post little sayings on Facebook and Twitter that only address one aspect of the problem and make it seem so simple. It can make you feel really bad about yourself if you’re not succeeding right now but don’t buy into it! . Just know, it’s the inner and the outer game and work on both!

That’s it for now…..

9 Steps to Getting Best-Seller Ranking on Kindle with your eBook! Part 1

(Resources included below)

1. Do the research. The best time to do the research is BEFORE you write your ebook so you can get the best keywords and phrases to use in your title and on your Kindle page so it will be easily found by prospective readers and buyers.

You’ll also want to use your best keywords for the 7 keywords or phrases that Kindle allow you to use for KO (Kindle Optimization). You’ll also want to figure out the two best categories for your book.

Extra Tip: While you’re doing your research, check out the  price-to-page ratio of each ebook you compare to yours. You’ll want to know this when it’s time to price your ebook. (This way, you won’t have to come back and go through the process a second time.)

2. Write your eBook. Choose a hook or angle and keywords or phrases that make the most sense based on the research that you did on step one. Create your outline and go from there. (Or, use one of the Resources below to create your ebook.)

3. Edit your eBook. Make sure that you have your ebook profesionally edited unless you are an editor yourself, in which case, come back with fresh eyes to edit later.

Also be sure to run your manuscript through a spellchecker.  There is more and more competition every day on Kindle and having a poorly edited manscript can result in negative reviews and kill sales.

4. Upload your eBook on Kindle.

When you upload your ebook, you will have to supply your 7 top keywords or phrases and your two categories as well as your title, cover, manuscript, and authors information.

You can upload your manuscript to Kindle up to 90 days before your launch date. (You launch date and promotion date do not have to be the same day, but it works nicely if they are-at least the first time you do a promotion.) This allows additional time for your copyediting and more time for your customers to purchase in advance.

Note: Nobody will get the ebook until the final version is uploaded and is live, but it gives you up to 90 days to get extra sales that will count toward your ranking when  you do go live. If you don’t want to take pre-orders, then upload as soon as you are ready to launch.

5. Test your eBook Cover & Manuscript in Kindle
Test your cover as soon as possible in case you have to have additional work done on it to make it work in Kindle. (You don’t want any last-minute surprises; they are no fun!)

Also, upload your manuscript as soon as it is ready because Kindle will check the spelling and you may find additional typos that you want to fix before launching
(I like having my ebooks formatted in “Word” so if there are any typos I can fix them myself; I need a formatter to do it if I have it formatted in mobi or any other format than “Word”.)

Tech Tips

Make sure when you have someone design a cover for your physical book that they don’t forget to add a spine! (This happened to one of my clients, for real!)

Also, if for some reason your designer doesn’t give you a Kindle version as well as a physical format, know that it can be stripped and formatted for Kindle later.

Note: If you want to avoid these problems, consider hiring us! It will alleviate some of the stress and frustration that I see some authors experience. www.ebookthis.com
