“Either I will find a way, or I will make one.”

Letter from the Editor

Happy Birthday to My Husband, Christen Violette!

Christen is 84-years old today! And it’s a miracle that he’s here. I almost lost him last year. He’s been through so much, but he’s a real fighter.

He loves football, so we’ll be watching the Superbowl for sure and hanging out, making a spaghetti dinner with carrot cake and vanilla Hagen Daz ice cream! Yum!

2015 has been off to a slow start for me and a bit frustrating. The Rockin’ in 2015 $10 Sale didn’t quite go as planned.  As I’ve mentioned, there were some issues with the technology and we weren’t able to set it up the way I wanted to. What I learned was that as much I want to delegate, I still have to have access so that when things go wrong I can just fix them instead of waiting for other people.  I also know that you learn by doing; there’s no way to foresee every situation that might arise.

My podcast is also taking longer than expected. I wasn’t happy with the artwork, so I had to go back to the drawing board. I’m hoping that the one in the works now will be awesome! I’ll know more tomorrow. But, this is one of the challenges that solopreneurs face. We want to do everything ourselves so we don’t have to wait for people. But, design is not a strong suit of mine and I’m not willing to take the amount of time it would require to become good at it. I’m better off sticking to what I do best. So, I have to be okay with this. Learning patience (again)!

I also took a risk, which I mentioned, asking a JV broker for his help, and what I got was a lot more! It looks like I’m going to be part of a huge new venture which should open in about 90 days and I got a business coach who was blown away by what I’ve created in my business. He thinks I’m a “rockstar” and wants to help me build a million-dollar a year business-so he says.  I know I’m a rockstar (not braggin, just saying I know my stuff) but I’m always a little skeptical, so we’ll see.

Let me explain. I say this not from negativity, but from life experience.

When I was in the music business I had many disappointments along the way. But one of the biggest was when I got a voicemail from an A & R guy (artist & repertoire). They are the ones who pick the songs for a record. It was a Friday evening. He said something like “This is your lucky day! Your life is about to change!” He loved my song and they were going to make it a hit record. I thought my ship had finally come in. Then, on Monday, he was fired and that was the end of that! And I’ve got a dozen other heartbreakers in the music biz-at least!

I’ve had equally disappointing situations on line. I once hired a coach, who is very well-respected in the online community, who promised to help us take our $100,000 in savings and invest it in such a way that we would have passive income for life.  We paid $3,000 for the training. Her company then pulled a bait and switch, convinced us to invest in real estate, and we lost all our money. And believe me this isn’t the only one. I have many more.

But, my point is that, I have learned to be skeptical, to not get too excited until something comes to fruition, but at the same time to keep moving, keep trying, and keep growing in my business-not get attached too much each outcome.  And I’ll talk more about this in this month’s Encouragement Call. This is a free monthly training for all of my customers, clients, and students. And I don’t hold anything back on these calls!  It doesn’t matter if you’ve made a $10 purchase or a $10,000 purchase-you’ve got a ticket in! So don’t miss it!

In other business news…...I’m excited to announce a special webinar with Jane Tabachnick, an award winning digital Public Relations and marketing strategist !. She was named one of the top 100 people online by Fast Company, Jane and her clients have been featured or quoted in, Clickz, Crains, ABC, CBS, The NY Enterprise Report, The Star Ledger, Environmental Leader, CNN , Houston Magazine, Spa Magazine, Women’s Wear Daily and many other media outlets. She’ll be sharing some cool tools for authors that will blow you away! So, check it out in the Events & Trainings section of the newsletter!

That’s it for now…..

How to Promote on Kindle For More Credibility, Visibility, & Profits Using Countdown Deals! (Part 2)

(Rules for a Countdown Deal)

In case you missed last weeks article, Countdown deals are Kindle promotions that allow you to reduce the price of your ebook to increase sales.  It’s on a timer and  you can have up to 5 incremental prices over a 1 hour to 7-day period, (If you would like to read the article, go to: http://tinyurl.com/countdownwow). But, there are rules you must follow and that’s the subject of today’s article.

Here are the rules:

Rule #1. Books enrolled in KDP must sell normally for $2.00-$24.99 at Amazon.com or 1.93-14.99 pounds in Amazon.co.uk.

Rule #2. Your book must be enrolled in KDP select for 30 days or more before you can run a Countdown promotion. (This is so a regular price is established first and so potential buyers know it’s a real deal and not a scammy one.)

Rule #3. The least amount you can discount your book for is $1.00 or 1.00 pound.

Rule #4. You cannot run a Countdown deal in the same 90-day period as a KDP free promotion.

Rule #5. Your Kindle Countdown deal must end 14 days before your KDP Select period is up unless you renew your book into KDP Select for another consecutive 90-day period.  Then, your deal may be on the last of your current KDP period.

Rule #6. If you need to cancel or change your promotion, you can do so up to 24 hours before the promotion starts.

Also, remember that Amazon is located in Pacific time so be sure to let everyone know that otherwise, on the East Coast, for example, they will be looking for the deal 3 hours before it starts and you will lose some customers!

Note: Potential buyers will know that it’s a Countdown deal because they’ll see the discounted price and how long they have to buy it before the price goes up. (The discounts and time periods will be set by you). Promotions start at the lowest price, and then, go up incrementally.

Countdown deals are a great way to create buzz and urgency while affording you an opportunity to make extra money from your ebook. However, there are not a myriad of sites that will announce a Countdown deal, so if you don’t know how to market, and can’t afford to promote your ebook, you’re better off doing a KDP launch and getting sales on the tail end of your promotion from potential buyers who missed the free days. You can also include bonuses with either launch which can greatly increase your profits.

If you would like to learn more about how to do a Kindle Promotion, you can schedule a complimentary Best-seller consultation with Ellen Violette, The Original eBook Coach, at http://bit.ly/schedulewithellen Ellen has a 100% track record of making authors #1 Best-Sellers on Amazon and she can help you too!

Create Duplicate Pages!

If you already have an opt-in page or a sales page that you can reuse or use as a template, you can just make a duplicate in WordPress and then swap out the autoresponder and any other information that needs changing.  It’s very easy to do, especially if you are using Optimize Press.

If you don’t have it you can purchase it at http://tinyurl.com/optimizeitwow
