Newbies Can Now Compete With Veterans By Harnessing The Power Of Facebook and Twitter
Social networking sites Facebook and Twitter have changed the way we do business online. Allowing us to interact with our prospects and clients, these sites make it easier than ever before to position yourself as an expert. Being new to the Internet myself back in 2006, these sites have allowed me to be on equal footing with people who have been online for many years.
Twitter started back in 2006, but it has only been during the past eighteen months that it has soared in popularity. You are given a total of 140 characters to answer the question ‘What are you doing?’, so you must choose your words carefully and shorten any links you may want to include. You can set up your account to have your articles and blog posts tweeted automatically.
There are also a variety of ways to promote yourself, your blog or other website, and affiliate products. When you are starting out you want to work on getting past the two thousand follower limit, so that you may then follow ten percent more people than those who are following you.
Facebook has some similarities, but the design and layout is completely different. You are allowed five thousand ‘friends’ with your personal account. Just like in real life, you will want to pick and choose these friends carefully. Look for people who are your potential prospects. You can join groups or form your own groups, based on your niche and keywords.
These sites can be extremely time consuming, so plan ahead of time what you will do while you are there. I usually spend ten minutes on Twitter three times throughout the day. I visit Facebook only once a day, and give myself a fifteen minute limit. Used properly, you can increase your revenue and build your visibility online with these social networking sites.
