My Rant on Truth In Online Advertising!

I definitely got bent out of shape over a product launch one of my clients showed me and it spiraled into a rant about online advertising in general, and I want to talk about it!

I have people who come to me crying all the time because they bought this program or that program and it wasn’t what it was cracked up to be. It was too complicated, it was too hard to follow, it was too hard to get help when they needed it, it just didn’t deliver, or all of the above.

The people who sell these programs are counting on the fact that if they make it sound easy and suck you in, you probably won’t make it and you probably won’t ask for a refund either, because time will run out before you get around to it. And they are happy to take your money.

They KNOW what is going to get people to buy; in fact they are giving them what will appeal to them just to get them to buy. Eldon Taylor talks about this in his book “Mind Programming” and how if you don’t take control of your mind, someone else will!

The site that got me all steamed up today even had testimonials from people in the sales letter who didn’t feel they got anything out of the program. I guess they never thought anyone would check, but my client did and that’s why he decided to work with me.

And the sad truth is, a lot of people don’t check. They don’t do their homework. But a lot of times they do and just get bum information. You have to learn to read between the lines!

On top of that, people oftentimes don’t really want what they think they want, but it sure sounds good. If someone says they are going to do all the work for you and you just collect the checks, it sounds heavenly.

But I urge you to take a breath and dig deeper. It may sound good, but ask yourself, are you really going to get the long-term success and financial rewards you are looking for if you go down this path? And can it really deliver what was promised?

Remember, there are plenty of people who will feed you a bunch of nonsense and can’t wait to take your money, but they know it’s not really going to give you what you are looking for. It only sounds like it is.

So if you’re looking for financial freedom and someone offers you a program promising it and tells you how easy it’s going to be because they are going to do everything for you and all you have to do is plug into it without any thought on your part, beware!

If you want financial freedom, you have to create something unique, something special, not a clone of something else.

As Rich Schefren says, you should run from a business in a box-type product (that’s how he described this type of product) because every business is different, so they don’t work. I’d like to add that this type of business, for the most part, molds your business to be just like every other business they are selling to.

People like the structure because they feel overwhelmed online. But too much structure crushes innovation and success.

What you want to do is learn a process and adapt it to your business. You don’t want to end up with a business that looks exactly like any other business out there, because it will fail. And that’s what every turn-key system I’ve ever seen does almost by definition.

Generally they are set up to make the person selling to you A LOT of money while you get the scraps. But they make it sound like it’s a great deal for you.

It reminds me of when I was in the music business. The people who owned the publishing made a couple of dollars per song, while the songwriter got a dime! So the publisher controlled the product and the money. They could still both get rich if the song was a huge hit, but if not, the publisher would still usually come out smelling like a rose while the songwriter got screwed.

It’s no different on line except that on line it’s so easy to create your own business (you’re in control) that you don’t have to give your earning power away. You just have to look at each situation and say, is this really a great deal for me? And is it going to take me where I am trying to go, really?

If it’s not going to help you to realize YOUR vision, it’s not a good deal for YOU. You want to stand out from the crowd. You need to do something better and different. Your success will come from your uniqueness, from your creativity, and from your vision.

So always read the fine print, check the testimonials out, ask questions, and make sure that any program you enroll in is designed to help you be the best YOU can be, and is not designed just to make someone else rich at your expense. And don’t settle for anything less than what will fulfill your true destiny!
