Learn From My Chiropractor, Create a Great Experience and Make More Money!
I went to a chiropractor today and I observed the way he ran his office, and it made me smile because it was so systematized. If I’d gone to him a few years ago, I would have hated it because left to my own devices, I’m not big on rules and regulations.
I think I come by it naturally. When I was a kid we had a condo in Palm Springs, California. My dad always used to get in trouble with the homeowners association because he’d put the towels over the balcony, which was a big no-no among other things; my mom would watch in horror!
But now I can appreciate it, even if it did seem just a bit over the top!
The chiropractor gave me papers to sign explaining that it wasn’t medical treatment, telling me office hours, cancellation policy and what to expect, while apologizing for the bureaucracy involved.
I was then given a little key to put into a computer that checks you in for future visits. I was shown where to sit to wait my turn, and where to put the key into another computer before my appointment to bring up my x-rays. I’d never seen anything like that!
I was also shown how when my appointment was over I should tear off the paper that I had laid my head on so it would be fresh for the next person. (This one freaked me out a little bit. I would have preferred to have someone in the office handle that one.)
But all in all, I was blown away by the thoroughness of it. And I found the treatment itself to be powerful. You could tell he really had his act together all the way around, and that gave me confidence in his ability to help me.
It also reminded me that that’s how people feel when any business they are working with is well-run. And how important it is to get organized to instill confidence in your customers, as well as to make it as easy as possible for you to do what you do best and not get bogged down in the organizational muck!
So if your business isn’t running like clockwork, it’s time to get busy, get organized and take it up a notch. Your customers will appreciate it and you will too!
