eBook Writing: Passion Increases Chances For Success!

Friday, January 6th, 2012

If you want to be successful as an author, it’s important to be passionate about what you are writing about for many reasons.

First, it takes stick-to-it-ness to be an author and if you’re not passionate about what you are writing about, it’s easy to get discouraged and give up when the going gets tough.

Also, if you aren’t passionate about your subject, it’s easy to get bored and then you won’t be motivated to finish your ebook.

Then once you have finished writing your ebook, you’ve got to market it. And the truth is this is a long-term committment.

Scott Peck, author of The Road Less Traveled, marketed his book every day for 12 years until his death, and that book stayed on the best-seller list for years!

Most authors, don’t have that kind of committment.

Plus, being an entrepreneur or author can be challenging at times for anyone-as an entrepreneur you have challenges to deal with on a daily basis and even as an author, you still have to promote yourself it’s still a business. Your business is your writing and if you don’t have the passion and the belief in yourself you won’t stick with it through the marketing. For some people they don’t even have enough passion to get the ebook written let alone sustain a whole business!

So, make sure that you are passionate about what you are writing about.

12 Internet Business Marketing Strategies To Get The Word Out NOW!

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

These strategies are extracted from a longer list from the ebook: Blueprint To Business Success,  by Debora McLaughlin

1. Dream 100 List:

Take a notebook or a spiral pad and label sections from A to Z. List all the people that you know with those letters in their first or last name and label them as such. Put a * at the names of people who fit your target marketplace and are your ideal client. These people will become your referral and marketing database. You will market to many but these people will get the special attention of extra mailings, articles etc, they will become your Dream 100 List. Send an item out every two to four weeks.

  1. Thank You Cards: A must for every solopreneur. Write thank you cards and mail them, write them often! Set a goal today to write a certain amount of thank you cards weekly. Purchase a stack and get going or use a service, even online cards are available.
  2. Newsletters: Use a newsletter service for “keep in touch” marketing. Make your newsletters education rich. Perhaps provide a success story to share about your clients. Many different newsletter services are available on line. Use a shopping cart and an auto responder such as www.aweber.com or www.1shoppingcart.com. Services include: www.Ezinedirector.com and www.Constantcontact.com. Make your newsletter readily available. Submit your newsletter to be picked up by the following sites and attract more attention!
  •  EzineSeek:
  •  Newsletter Access:
  •  New List:
  •  BestEzines:
  •  Ezine Universe:
  •  Nerd World: 8. Website:

page73image6320
page73image6592
page73image6864
3. Develop a website that clearly indicates who you work with, how you work, what services you offer, a client list, stories, case studies and testimonials, articles about your company, resources and links, contact us page and ezine sign up page. You can register your domain name and buy additional domain names through www.godaddy.com, www.register.com or www.networksolutions.com. See the Web Marketing section to learn more about how to have an effective website.

4. Survey:

You can also send out a survey and collect information using a product such as www.surveymonkey.com or put assessments through this product, www.assessmentgenerator.com on your website to gather information from an assessment. You can also buy permission based lists or invite people to join your newsletter through other contacts. You will need an effortless way to keep track of your database.

5. Writing Articles:

You are an expert in your field. You can create and release articles so that they are picked up by many other places. This will increase your visibility and your expertise. Also use a free article as a way to gain communication and marketing to prospects. Submit articles to your local papers, your associations, and to newsletters of others that you know. Read the paper, if you see an editor writing about your area of expertise contact them and offer to serve as a resource. You can also place your articles at www.ezinearticles.com or www.thephantomwriters.com. Other resources regarding article writing include www.efuse.com and www.guru.com.

Writing is one way to establish expertise. You can offer your expertise via the written word in many places:

  •  Newsletters/ezines
  •  Blog
  •  Article submissions
  •  Website content
  •  Forums
  •  Lead in funnel items
  •  Magazine articles
  •  Newspaper articles
  •  E‐books
  •  Self published and published books You might be asking “what am I writing about?” Your writing can take many forms. You can write from the point of your expertise. The Blueprint for Business Success program was developed as a result of our professional knowledge and personal experience. You can also write as a commentator. Find an issue of controversy in your industry and write your opinion about it. You can write as an interviewer, interview various experts in an industry or various clients experiencing what you address in your target market and write about the summary conclusions you have drawn. You can also pick one subject and have other writers submit an article or chapter, building a book or e‐book.

6. Press Releases: Remember that expertise is self claimed and if you want to establish a brand for yourself you need to have visibility. Be courageous; the press is waiting for you.

Each time you or your business has something to share, a new contract, a donation made to a charity, a speaking event or business related event you can write a press release. You can contact the editors and send a listing of topics you have an expertise in or you can submit your own press release each time you or your business does something Audacious! Find out how the editors prefer for the release to be receiving, many will accept it in the body of an email but not as an attachment.

Place “For Immediate Release” or the specific time you would like it published, “In the month of January” in the left hand corner of the release. Next, put “For Further Information Contact” and directly under that place you name and phone number. Put a headline on your Press Release and add the body. The release should be specific to something of interest to their readers.

You can contact the editors and ask them which format they would like to have articles presented. Many editors prefer to receive a release in the body of an email, not as an attachment. The best press to get is an interview from an editor. Start to read the papers and follow certain editors. When you read something that you feel is relevant to what you do, send the editor a note complimenting them on the story and offering a story idea related to your area of expertise.

Email your press releases to the local papers. You can also approach national magazines or papers. PR Newswire at 800‐832‐5522 will send out your news releases to thousands of newspapers so will www.prweb.com. By subscribing to such a service, you have immediate knowledge of and contact information for journalists looking for experts to assist in their stories. Go to: www.prleads.com. You can also find media contacts in your area through the local presses as well.

Don’t forget to post your press releases on your website, ezine and other contacts mediums with your clients and prospects.

I can write about the following topics:

page76image7768
page76image8040
page76image8312
page76image8584
page76image8856
page76image9128
page76image9400
page76image9672

I can send my press releases to:

page76image10632
page76image10904
page76image11176
page76image11448
page76image11720
page76image11992

I can tell the media that I am an expert in the following areas:

7. Speak: Speaking and writing are the best promotional tools to promote yourself as an expert. Simply start by making a list of topics, turn the topics into titles, use the headline analyzer tool to check the emotional effectiveness and put the spotlight on your business via writing or speaking. You can organize your information for your speech by:

  •  Problem, we like to connect a story with this of our own experience or that of clients (with their permission if you use their name or company).
  •  Solution, what process did they go through to solve this? Or what solutions do you offer?
  •  Examples of results and content
  •  Wrap Up: wrap up includes a call to action, urgency, a way to collect the names of the attendees. One technique is to hold up an article at the start of your speech and tell the audiences if they want that or the notes to the presentation to send up their business cards and you will email it to them and at the same time offer them, as your gift, a complimentary copy of your ezine. You can also offer a consultation for a limited number of people and even have your time slots available on a piece of paper. Ever notice how parents rush to get on the conference signup sheets at Open House night at your local school? You will have the same effect. Simply say “I’ve been asked if I offer consultations. The answer is yes, with minimal availability in my schedule I am able to offer x slots this month. If you would like to explore how the ideas I present today will work for your business sign up for a complimentary 30 minutes session. If you’d like to take advantage of that write “consultation” on the back of your card when you send it up and we will schedule the first x for this month, others might need to wait until.., or sign up for the limited slots on your evaluation sheet in front of you.”

To organize your information so it is easily prepared for a speech, workshop, Teleclass or demonstration:

  •  Start by telling the audience what your main objective is for the presentation
  •  Open the presentation by telling them the purpose of the presentation, the process, the result they will receive and a few words why you are credible to give this presentation
  •  Deliver the content
  •  Summarize
  •  Offer interactive time with the audience
  •  Close with a call to action. How to get speaking engagements Simply ask, ask and keep on asking. Ask via phone, email or in person. Ask for the programs manager of organizations to get on the roster, offer to be a fill in speaker for absent speakers, get on the list for this year. If you want to put together a professional kit you can mail it could include:
    •  A cover letter that includes the value and relevance of your speech to their audience
    •  A one page write up that offers the main points of the speech
    •  A page of comments from those who have heard your speech
    •  A page of places you have spoken
    •  A copy of marketing materials
    •  A referral to a CD or MP3 of a prior speech When you start out you will not have all of these materials, don’t worry, they will come. Simply send a letter or call and offer to speak. Don’t forget, after your speech send a handwritten note to the program manage to thank them and include a special offer you have for their audience, perhaps a free gift they can reference in their newsletter to the membership.

Also, if you can, take a photo. Having a photo of you at the podium surrounded by an audience is a great visible to put on your website, especially for those looking for speakers!

What locations can you speak at that will offer you visibility, help you to become known as expert, offer an opportunity to collect information from participants for future marketing and help you to market your product or service? What topics come to mind? Write your speaking venues and topics below. Think of associations, businesses, libraries, adult learning centers etc, all of which would welcome a speaker.

8. Teleseminar:

A teleseminar or tele‐forum is a workshop, seminar or class that is held over the telephone. You don’t need to rent space; you simply can facilitate a workshop in the comfort of your office or home with your fuzzy slippers on. A teleclass is a way to introduce yourself to a population, to offer an educational forum, to show your expertise and to offer great value to your existing client base. It is easy to arrange, simply contact a conferencing service and arrange a scheduled date and time for your conference.

Others are:
www.liveoffice.com
www.mrconference.comwww.freeconference.com

These are free services; you and your callers will simply have to call the phone number that is assigned. In most cases it is a long distance call for you and participants. http:/www.freeconference.com also offers an invitation service with reminders as well as an RSVP service. You can also record the call with an audio podium service and use that as a way to allow non‐participants to hear the call at another time. Or you can download the course to a CD or MP3 and use it as a product.

For a one hour Teleclass you might only need 20‐30 minutes of content. Here are the basics:

 Write your class outline
 Write a class description and title
 Arrange a bridge line
 Use your funnel to attract people to your Teleclass
 Post Teleclass on applicable sites
 Hold Teleclass by ____
 Welcoming your attendees, engaging them in discussion
 Frame the call at the beginning
 Deliver the content, breaking every 10 minutes to check in with your audience  Ask for pearls, or what each participant is taking away at the end of the call
 Give an offer after delivering value in the call.

Ideas I have for a Teleclass or Speaking workshop:

page80image9496
page80image9768
page80image10040
page80image10312
page80image10584

9.  Producing a CD:

Recording a CD is very easy today. You can make a CD of key information for your clients, record a workshop you offer or even record your top 10 list. Make the CD yourself with a recorder such an Olympus recorder and Wave software and burn the CD yourself or visit a local recording studio. In some instances you can use a free conference line service as noted above to record your CD content. You can find these items in your local electronic store. If you wish to create a volume of CD’s to give away or to sell at a trade show, use a company such as www.Vervante.com to produce CD’s. Use the CD as a free give away with shipping and handling charges only or charge for it as part of your services or program.

Topics I can put on a CD:

page81image5768
page81image6040
page81image6312
page81image6584
page81image6856
page81image7128
10. Radio and Podcasts:

Today it is very easy to “be on the mic!” You can offer your own internet radio show, buy airtime for your own live show or develop a podcast for delivery through blogs and other internet resources. Do you have something to say? Share it on the airwaves as well! You can have your own Radio Show via http://www.blogtalkradio.com.

11. Author an E‐book:

E‐books, or electronic books are still a viable way of offering a lead‐in product or a free give away. You write a small book or leaflet and clients can either receive this via mail or they can download it electronically from your website, perhaps as a thank you for signing up for your newsletter. You can also use an e‐book to generate passive income.

Following is a list of websites where you can list your e‐books for sale. Some of these are paid inclusions and some of them are free.

12. Network:

Becoming known through networking is a great way to spread the word about your expertise.

A great book to read is “Love is a Killer App: How to Win Business and Influence Friends by Tim Sanders. He defines love as “the act of intelligently and sensibly sharing your intangibles with your bizpartners.” This includes your knowledge, your network and your compassion. To establish yourself as an expert while networking means to share what you know. Can you do this by speaking, serving on a committee, offering articles for their newsletter etc?

12 Days Of Christmas Giveaway Returns With A Twist!

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

When I was first getting started on the Internet, Mark Hendricks was doing the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway and I remember being overwhelmed by all the amazing gifts that I received.

So the next year, I decided to be a contributor, giving some free gifts on ebook writing and marketing, and I was even more stunned when I got over 1600 people on my list (which at that point was about 200) and was able to make $13,000 on my first funnel of products in a 6 week period.

The next year it got even better when I got over 3,000 new subscriber and more amazing great gifts. But the last couple of years I hadn’t seen it. So,  I contacted Mark to find out what the story was. And he said he wasn’t doing it any more.

But then something happened that changed his mind. He got a phone call from Joseph Romero.  Joseph runs Chains Off Ministries and they help a lot of people who desperately need it right now. And that gave Mark an idea.

He’d run the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway again but this time with a twist.  If you want all the gifts, they are still free but you can consider giving a donation of just $7 and  if you decide to become a contributor you can pay $50 or $100. Either way, it’s going to charity, and everybody wins!

To get these amazing gifts go to: bit.ly/freegiftsev

To become a contributor go to: http://hunteridge.com/12days/contribute.htm

Spread the word and the good cheer! Happy Holidays!

Publishing An eBook: Getting Ready To Sell Online (Part 2)

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

If you’re a creative person trying to get your message out and spooked by technology, the process of getting your ebook, book, or product online can be daunting. In fact, in my 3-Days To eBook Cash Workshop, I have seen people write an ebook in 3 days or less only to spend months trying to get it up online. So, I’ve created a checklist to speed up the process and keep you on track.

The first phase deals with the actual ebook. The next section deals with getting set up with the varous companies and software you will need, the next with copy you will need at the various entry points and the last section will deal with the mechanics of getting your ebook online.

Here are the seven steps to the first phase in the process:

Number 1. Create your ebook cover (If you want us to do it for you, send an email toinfo@theebookcoach.com with the title and any ideas you have for it. Also include your name, email, phone number and time zone, plus the best time to reach you. We can also format your ebook for you. (For formatting also include the Word document or a PDF of the manuscript). I also recommend going to: tinyurl.com/c5blm Or, trying www.fiverr.com if you really need to save money.

Number 2. Add your ebook cover to your ebook or book

Number 3. Format your ebook. If you want to use an ebook-formatting program go to: tinyurl.com/ebookformatting.

Number 4. PDF it. I recommend www.docudesk.com There are plenty of free ones like www.PDF995.combut I found them difficult to use and prefer Docudesk.

Number 5. Create a sample to give away from 1-3 chapters depending on the number of pages in each chapter

Number 6. Decide if you are going to use ebook protection and if so which one I recommend snipurl.com/protectit. You can also pick up a free report of mine at www.ebooktheftprotection (Opt in and then check your email to access it.)

Number 7. Apply your theft protection to your manuscript if you are using one.

To get the entire free checklist go to www.ebooksforsalein4days.com

eBook Writing: How to write an ebook in 72 hours or less!

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

There are 4 keys to writing an ebook in 72 hours or less.

The first is to do the research so you know exactly what to write about including  what  keywords and phrases to use. You can do this by using the Google Keyword Tool at http://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal The more people are clicking on the keywords and phrases that EXACTLY describe your topic the better.

The second step is to organize your ebook. You want to do this for two reasons. First to see what you are going to put into your ebook. Sometimes people have so many chapters that it’s really more than one ebook. Only be seeing it in front of you will you be able to decide what to focus on for this particular ebook. And secondly so you can use it as a road map so you don’t run off the road into a ditch while writing your ebook.  Sometimes people get so off topic that they can’t find their way back. They get stuck and give up.   Using a road map stops this from happening.

The third step is to  use a writing SYSTEM.  I have a fail-safe writing system that I teach students in my 3 Days to eBook Cash (virtual writing) Workshop. It’s set up so that you write  over a 3 day period, in a way that is  not rushed and you can get a lot down on paper in a short amount of time.  The key is to do a brain dump first-no editing while writing.

And last but not least, the fourth step is to do the research for your ebook LAST. What so many people do, is research first.  And if you aren’t sure exactly what you are going to be writing about,  a lot of it can be a big waste of time. Not only that,  but you can research forever and never get to the writing.  And, if you do a lot of research,  it can take days, weeks or month to find the research you actually NEED once you are ready to write!

So if you want to write an ebook in 72 hours or less go to www.3dayebookworkshop.com/main.html to learn more and get your FREE eBook Cash Starter Kit.
The next workshop starts Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Registration is open until Thursday, October 6th as space permits.

Want To Sell Tons Of eBooks (or Books) This Holiday Season? Anyone can do it!

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

If you answered “Yes!” then it’s time to start planning because it takes 6 to 8 weeks at least to plan a solid launch.  Even if you already have some of the pieces in place like your landing and sales page and affiliate program, you’ll still have to create the pieces specific to a launch and find the right joint-venture partners, solicit them, and lock them up.  And getting your jv partners is what requires a 6- to 8-week window minimum because most potential partners plan their schedules out weeks if not months in advance.

So if you want to do a launch this holiday season, you’ll probably have to forego finding top experts with huge lists unless you  luck out or are solid friends with them. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make some serious money this holiday season.  It will just require doing your homework, finding the right joint-venture partners who have lists that target the same market you want to reach, and getting enough of them to make your launch profitable, which is very doable.

Remember, there are millions of people on the Internet and you only have to sell 100 ebooks to make $1350 or 200 ebooks to make $2700 at $27 per ebook split 50/50 with your joint partners.  But that’s only the beginning with the right upsell, you could make thousands more. In fact,  when I wanted to prove to my subscribers that anyone could do this, I purposely did a launch without any TOP experts.

Selling is a numbers game and when you deal with top experts they generally have much bigger lists and so you are going to make a lot of sales. I have seen people make over $100,000 in just 24 hours with all top experts. But when you target people who have lists that want what you offer, you don’t need big lists. You just need to get in front of enough eyeballs to make it profitable. (And if you want a $100,000 payday, use the holidays to practice then schedule another one in 4 to 6 months for a HUGE payday!)

So, in my launch,  I had 15 partners and most were lists between 200 and 11,000 people. We sold 144 ebooks in the initial launch.  And with a membership back- end at last count I had made over $6,000 from that launch! I also did a launch that sold 350 ebooks with a couple of emails  in the initial launch.  But again, it’s all in the quality of the lists and the number of eyeballs you reach.

So,  if you want to learn how to find the right people to partner with, how to enlist them into your launch, how to make sure your launch is profitable, and what to do after your launch, and a lot more, come to this FREE teletraining,  Monday, September 19th, 2011.  6 p.m. PDT/ 9 p.m. EDT Register now at: www.ebooklaunchsecrets.com/live And, don’t worry if you can’t make it live there will be a replay.

But try to make it live because I will be giving out a free gift to make your launches a lot easier!

How to Find the Right Angle or Hook for Your Ebook!

Friday, September 16th, 2011

You’ve done your research, figured out what you are passionate about and your best skills, and you’ve got zeroed in on a topic. The next step is finding the right angle.

That means, how are you going to approach that topic in a way that is going to grab the attention of your audience?

So let’s look at an example: weight loss. There are a ton of books and eBooks on weight loss. So, there’s no point in writing, a general topic one.

Instead you want to find a new approach to weight loss if you’re going to write about it. Otherwise, what’s the point? You’ll just be rehashing what’s already out there and that’s NOT how you sell ebooks or books for that matter!

So to find a fresh approach, what you have to do is look at what is already out there. Otherwise, you won’t know what will be new and inviting!

So, I did that and this is what I found.

“Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle”. This ebook focuses on muscle tone and fitness specifically.

Then there’s “Fat Loss For Idiots” which outlines how a permanent change in the food you eat and your eating patterns will make those pounds fall off of you.

Next, is the “Negative Calorie Diet” eBook which shows you how to use your metabolism to actually lose weight and the “Acid-Alkaline Diet” which involves adding alkaline foods to your menu in order to help you lose weight.

These top-selling weight-loss ebooks are clearly distinct from one another!

And, if you’re somebody who has trouble losing weight, chances are you will buy not one or two but several weight-loss ebooks and keep buying them until you find one that works for you!

So, as an author, you want to have a unique perspective on weight-loss so that even if your potential buyer has already bought weight-loss ebooks, they’ll still be interested in reading yours!

And this is going to be true no matter what your topic is. So always be sure to do the research and see what else is already available BEFORE writing your ebook. Find an angle that appeals to your target market that hasn’t been done before. And THEN write your ebook!

You’ll make a lot more sales and garner a lot more attention when you come up with a new angle on any topic you choose!

Number 1. Create your ebook cover (If you want us to do it for you, send an email to info@theebookcoach.com with the title and any ideas you have for it.

Number 3: Format your ebook. If you want to use an ebook-formatting program go to: tinyurl.com/ebookformatting.

Number 4. PDF it. I recommend www.docudesk.com There are plenty of free ones like www.PDF995.com but I found them difficult to use and prefer Docudesk.

Number 5. Create a sample to give away from 1-3 chapters depending on the number of pages in each chapter

Number 6: Decide if you are going to use ebook protection and if so which one
I recommend snipurl.com/protectit. You can also pick up a free report of mine at www.ebooktheftprotection (Opt in and then check your email to access it.)

Number 7: Apply your theft protection to your manuscript if you are using one

Think You Can’t Write An eBook? Think Again!

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Anyone can write an ebook. But many people think they can’t. And if you’re one of them, it’s hurting your business BIG TIME! But it doesn’t have to! There are several reasons why people think they can’t write an ebook and here’s what they are and what to do about them.

1. You don’t think you’re an expert at anything. But the truth if you’ve been on the planet for any length of time, chances are that you’re an expert at something. It’s just that since you know what you know, you might think it’s not worth writing about. Or, you might think everybody else already knows what you know. Let me assure you, that’s simply not true. We all have strengths and talents. You just have to figure out what yours are that people who would pay to learn.

2. You don’t think you have enough to say. What I generally find in my workshops is that people think that they don’t have enough to say because they try to bite off more than they can chew; they think about it and 100 or 150 pages seems like an ENORMOUS task. But when you write an ebook , you write it one chapter at a time, one sentence at a time. Once you understand how to approach it, that fear goes away. Also, there are tricks to making an ebook longer, like adding short interveiws, summaries etc. So, I tell people not to worry about it. Just take it one step at a time! There’s always a way to make it longer.

3. You have too much to say so, you can’t image how you are going to get it all into an ebook. A lot of times it might be that you have more than one ebook. The key is creating an outline and then seeing if it’s really one ebook or a series of ebooks. If it’s a series, only focus on what you want to use in this ebook and put the rest aside for later.

4. You don’t know how to get started. The best way to get started (once you know what the best topic is for you) is to organize your thoughts on paper, so you can see what you have to work with. Then write a strong title, lay out your chapters and write it.

5. You’re trying to edit while writing. This is the number one thing that slows people down or stops them from ever finishing an ebook. You use two different sides of the brain for these two functins , so you can’t do both at the same time. But that doesn’t stop people from trying! But the key is to do a brain dump first, then go back and edit later.

6. You get stuck the minute you try to write it down. Some people simply have writers block. Maybe a teacher told you that you couldn’t write, or you got a bad grade on a paper and the thought stuck. Now you think you can’t write. In these cases, I suggest talking your ebook. I guarantee the thoughts will come pouring out and before you know it, your ebook is finished!
