Does this story hit a nerve? If so, you may be barking up the wrong tree looking for ebook/Internet success!

I got a call from an alumni of two of my coaching programs: eBook Profit Marketing Secrets and eBook Launch Secrets, he’d also taken an article course with a 90 day article-writing challenge with Rob Schultz. He wanted to  pay me AGAIN to look over all his marketing materials and he was looking at more ways to promote his ebook.

I told him to save his money.  The problem wasn’t his website or  his materials, it was that he wanted results yesterday and kept looking for the quickest fix. Or the problem was that he was afraid of success. I personally think they go together. Because when you are afraid of success, you don’t make money. Then you panic because you aren’t making any money and go looking for the quick fix which keeps you from making money!

But to get back to my former student, he hadn’t increased his sales from when we stopped coaching. And months had gone by. He hadn’t done an ebook launch even though it’s all ready to go,  he hadn’t written articles, and he hadn’t implemented any of the tactics that I had taught him.

What he had done was obsessed over the new FTC rules  (You can learn all about them at http://tinyurl.com/FTCfix)  and then decided he didn’t want to get involved with JV partners which is THE best way to grow your business online!

Now don’t get me wrong, everyone should go over the new FTC rules and know exactly what they mean and how to comply, but he took it too far.  And not getting involved with JV partners online is suicidal! Plus  he was obsessing over whether or not his sales process was good enough to sell his ebooks, even though he already had sales coming in regularly from targeted magazine ads.

And he was trying to find MORE ways to sell his ebooks when he wasn’t implementing the ones  he already had (including the FASTEST way to sell a ton of ebooks with an ebook launch, and a great long-term strategy with articles)!

What To Do If  This Sounds Famililar: If you’re not getting the results you want, the  first thing you have to do is take a deep breath and listen to what you’re telling yourself.  Next ask yourself, WHY you’re telling yourself  whatever it is you’re telling yourself, because sometimes your mind thinks it’s protecting you  when it feels afraid but  it’s really hurting you and keeping you stuck in fear.

Then you have to ask yourself is what you’re hearing real or just  False Evidence Appearing Real?
If it’s fear, and you can’t get out on your own, GET A COACH NOW! A coach will be able to help you sort out what’s real and what’s not, help you see what you’re doing wrong, and get you moving in the right direction. And if you think you can’t afford it, think real hard….because the longer you wait, the longer it will take to turn it around and start making serious online cash!

In this case, I told my former student that he didn’t need another materials review, he needed to pick one or two of the strategies he already knew and start doing them on a CONSISTENT basis and stop looking for something else. And that searching for something else was only stopping him from taking action and getting the results he was looking for!  How ironic, huh?
