Headlines vs. Titles: The Key Differences And How to Know What to Write for Each!

Headlines vs. Titles: The Key Differences And How to Know What to Write for Each!

Headlines and titles should both entice the reader with some benefit he or she will receive from reading further. But, how they accomplish it is quite different.
writing3
A title should be short and easy to remember so potential buyers will be able to ask for it in the bookstore or find it easily while online.

Or clever, or evoke curiosity.

Here are two examples of clever or curious:

How to talk so kids will listen and Listen so kids will Talk is very clever and gets your attention.

Or, The Millionaire Next Door. Most people aren’t millionaires and would be curious how the guy next door became one.

Headlines may also be clever or evoke curiousity, but they generally are more focused on the benefit of reading the page, And they are often as long if not longer than subtitles.

For example, Who Else Wants to Stop the Madness and Discover a System Just for Authors for Turning a Single eBook into a 6-Figure Income?

Or, You’ll Have 181,405x MORE Support Than You Think
When You Enter The “Intention Energy Circle” …
vs.
The Power Of Being Different – a success formula
The H2O Diet: How to Eat, Exercise, Drink and Dream

Which are headlines and which are titles?

Remember, headlines tend to be longer and lead the reader into the next sentence while titles tend to be short, to the point, with a short description afterward explaining what the book is about. So, if you said the first group is headlines and the second is titles, you’d be right!

The key is to remember WHY you are writing what you are writing and make sure that your copy does what it is supposed to do which is get the reader to take the next step with you.

If they are reading a headline you want them to read the rest of the copy while if they are reading a title, you want them to look inside the book at the table or contents or decide right then to buy it.

Learn the differences between headlines and titles and you’ll become a much better writer at both!

Maximize your Potential, Grow your Brand! 5 Steps to Finding What Makes You Unique!

Wednesday, March 5th, 2014

uniqueLook at what you are passionate about. Making money is great but it’s not enough to sustain motivation for most people.  Instead, go for the passion.  Figure out what you really love. You’ll be a lot more motivated to get up in the morning and pursue your goals and you’ll have a much better chance of sticking with it for the long haul.

Look at what you are skilled at. It’s difficult if not impossible to succeed at something that you aren’t good at, so look at what you are good at. And if you can’t figure it out, ask other people who know you what they think you are good at.  Sometimes, we take for granted what we are good at, while others can see it clear as day!  So don’t rack your brain trying to figure it out.  Get feedback!

Look at what you are well-suited for.  If you’re a detail person, don’t go for something that focuses on the big picture.  And if you’re a big-picture person, don’t go for something that requires a lot of detail.  You must do what you are well suited for or you’ll be miserable, and ultimately,  you won’t succeed.

Look at your innate qualities.  What makes you YOU? Are you gregarious? Naturally bubbly? Compassionate? Honest? What qualities do you have that make you a stand out?

Look at your market. Once you know what you are passionate about, skilled at, well-suited for and what innate qualities you have that are assets in your business, look at what your market is hungry for and figure out how you can give it to them while playing to your strengths.  When you can do this, you’ll find that people flock to you and there really is no competition because there is only ONE you!

How to Find Real Security In Your Business As A Freelancer, Author, or Entrepreneur!

Saturday, March 1st, 2014

6figuresWhen I was a kid, people could get a job and stay with that company for thirty or forty years, retire, and have a nice life.  But, the world has changed and it’s not like that any more.  Most people, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, currently holds 10 different jobs before the age of forty! And 25% have had 15 jobs! That’s a lot of jobs!

And it’s taking a lot longer for people to find a job, if they can find one at all.  But, with so many out of work, many are turning to the Internet.  In fact, they predicts that by the year 2020 40% of the workforce will be freelancing! Lucky for them, there are many jobs online that didn’t exist just a decade ago that can be done on a freelance basis as well as from home, so there are a lot of possibilities.  But, too many people want the rewards without the risk which isn’t possible.

There can be a steep learning curve and you may not be suited for the first job that you choose. It could take some time to find the right fit.  And, it can change over time. What you enjoy doing at 40 may not be the same as what you want to do at 50 or 60 or beyond. Plus,  the Internet is constantly changing,  so you must be willing to commit to life-long learning and that requires an investment of time, money, and energy.

And what I’ve noticed is most people aren’t prepared to invest in the level of education they need to be successful. Instead they look for short-cuts and  get-rich-quick schemes and  they want guarantees. They want to know before they start, that they will make money, be handsomely rewarded, and do it quickly.

And even when they understand that you have to WORK at success,  they still want to know how long it will take before they start making money. But, the reality is that everyone is different.  It depends on how well-suited you are for the job you choose, how passionate you are about it, and how motivated you are to succeed.  Plus, you have to choose a path that is PROVEN to work and is where you want to end up.

But,  most of all, you have to believe in yourself-in your ability to succeed at whatever you choose and have the confidence to change directions if, at first, it’s not working out and  you don’t succeed right away. When you accept that the road to success is a winding one and there are no guarantees, but you believe in yourself, you’ll be willing to invest in the education, the tools, and the people  you need on  your team and you’ll have true security because it’s in you!
