What Was I Thinking?

Monday, February 24th, 2014

Agreeing to talk to a colleague about her book at 8:30 on a Sunday morning!

Actually, I enjoy helping people no matter what day it is, but I do prefer not to work on Sundays!

But, she’s a good friend and colleague and she wanted to do a book/Ebook launch right. Her book (also available on Kindle) had been out for quite a awhile, but she wanted more publicity for it and also wanted to tie it in to an event that was coming up in several months.

I gave her my honest feedback: the title didn’t work, and the cover wasn’t right and it looked really dark in Kindle.

I apologized but said I had to tell her the truth.

She said that’s exactly what she loved about me. She knew I wouldn’t sugar coat it, or try to entice me to spend good money towards bad. She wanted to know the truth.

I laid out how she could do a campaign workaround to create results without changing her book on Amazon,, allowing her to build on the Amazon ranking she had already established.

With clear expectations established and the opportunity to use this promotion as a great learning experience for her experience for her next book launch, we were off and running.Due to a prior commitment, I could only offer her 25 minutes on the phone. But. she was more than pleased because she said our short conversation was condesnsed and content rich giving her plenty to work with to get started.

She promised that for her next book she would hire me at the beginning and get started on the right foot. Lesson Learned!

She also said she wouldn’t think of going to anyone else as I am THE authority on ebooks and digital publishing. For her, it was just as important to hire someone she could trust and enjoy working with equally as much as it was to have someone highly-skilled, competent, and professional.

How about you?

If you’re trying to go it alone and it’s not working, why not schedule a “FREE” extraordinary results coaching call with me at http://tinyurl.com/free-consult-now

3 Secrets to Writing Great Headlines

Wednesday, February 19th, 2014

The 3 Secrets to writing great headlines are:

  1. Sell something your potential customers are dying to have.
  2. Know what your ebook, product, or service will do for your potential customers, and what makes it stand out from the pack.
  3. Say it in a way that they “get” it.

Secret #1. You must sell something your potential customers are dying for, but how do you know?

There are several ways to figure out what your target market wants.

  1. Do a customer appreciation day and listen to what your customers tell you.
  2. Coach and keep a notebook of what people tell you they want.
  3. Write a special report and see how well it sells. If it does well, create an ebook or bigger product on the same subject.
  4. Look at magazine covers.  Magazines do a lot of research to find out what people want. You can piggy-back on their hard work.
  5. Use surveymonkey.com to survey your list.  But always test the results you get as people don’t always buy what they SAY they want

Secret #2. You must KNOW what your ebook, product, or service will do for your customer

Think about your product.

Ask yourself, “What benefits will people get from reading it or using it?”

Ask people who have read it or used it to give you feedback.

Give promotional copies to your best clients and/or colleagues whom you trust in exchange for feedback.

Next ask yourself, what makes it different from all the other similar ebooks or products on the market?

Incorporate the benefits and what makes it unique into your headline.

Secret #3 Say it in a way that they “get” it.

Your headline should connect with your audience-that means explaining what the benefit is going to be to them for reading your ebook and saying it in a way that excites them-using words that get their attention. Certain buzz words always get your audience’s attention-that’s why they are called “buzz” words!

They include words like:
Millionaire
Secrets
Rich
Lose weight
and one-minute
for starters!

Sometimes, people are afraid that their headlines are too long. But, long is okay, if it is what is needed to connect with your audience. For instance, I recently created a report called “How to Create A Kindle Best-Seller, Build a List, And Get Paid To Do It Without A Website!” It was my best-selling single product ever!

Why? Because authors want to create a best-seller so there is more interest in their ebook, they want to build a list because the money is in the list, and they want to get paid for doing it instead of shelling out tons of money to make it happen. Who wouldn’t?

So make sure you are selling something you market really wants, know the benefits of what it will do for them, and let them know what they are in a way that excites them and you’ll be on your way to writing high-converting
headlines!

Authors Fear #8: I’m Not A Writer

Monday, February 10th, 2014

writing3I have to admit, this is the one that does NOT apply to me. The truth is that writing comes very easily to me-except when I have to a press release!

But, I can write ebooks/books quickly and easily because 1. I know my subject inside and out and 2. I always use my 3 Days to eBook Cash system that works like a charm. (It’s essentially my process, bottled so anyone can duplicate it!)

The truth is, if you can write a list, you can write an ebook or book.

But, some people are paralyzed with fear when they even think of writing one.

Maybe, a teacher told them they weren’t any good as a writer, or they got a bad grade on a paper in school and it stuck in their brain that they couldn’t write.

Or, maybe they had a parent who told them they were no good and would never amount to anything and it spilled over into their writing life.

Or, maybe they are perfectionists so they go over every line a thousand times and they just can’t get it out-it’s too painful of a process.

Whatever the reason, some people BELIEVE that they are not a writer and that they simply can’t write a book or ebook.

What I tell people is, it’s just not true. if you can’t write it, talk it. I know, because I’ve taught thousands of people who thought they were beyond help how to do it!

You see, everyone knows how to talk. And when you talk, you don’t edit yourself-you just talk! And when it’s all done you can go back and edit out any places where you stumbled or repeated yourself. It forces you to get all your thoughts down BEFORE you start editing and/or judging yourself.

Trust me and try talking it! As I said, I’ve taught thousands of people how to write a book or ebook over the years and I can teach you too!

Also, remember, you’re writing non-fiction books/ebooks that solve a problem that your target market has. They don’t CARE if it’s a masterpiece of not, as long as the information solves the problem!

So, by NOT writing your book or ebook you are actually depriving people of valuable information that they need.

So, my best advice is GET OVER IT! And write it already! It WILL change your life and by not doing it you not only depriving the world but you’re depriving yourself of one of the greatest gifts you could give yourself.

Becoming an author will give you instant credibility and expert status. It will give you a product that you can use to build a subscriber list practically overnight and put you in business in weeks instead of months or years if you do it right!

It will give you short- and long-term cash flow capabilities and the blueprint for a 6-or even 7-figure business (depending on how much you leverage it).

So, stop telling yourself you can’t write. Just do it! And if you need help getting started go to: www.ebookwritingsecrets.com Here, you’ll discover how to manage your time so you have enough to write your ebook or book, how to pick the best topic for you and a lot more.

You Can’t Win If You’re Not In The Game (Super Bowl Lesson for Authors & Entrepreneurs)

Thursday, February 6th, 2014

Football VictoryYou can’t win if you aren’t in the game. But, when you get in the game, sometimes you get creamed. And that’s what happened at the Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos. Nobody wants to get creamed in public. It’s embarrassing, it’s humiliating and that’s why so many people don’t step up to the plate. They don’t want to go through that.

But, the problem is, if you don’t take the chance you’ll never be able to get what you really want. Because what we all want is right on the other side of the fear. And the only way to get there is to walk through the fear. And yes, sometimes, it doesn’t pan out. Sometimes, you “fail”. But the way you have to look at it is to see it as a lesson. And as long as you pick yourself up and keep going you’ll be okay. But, many people let a bad experience or a string of bad experiences crush their spirit.

It will be interesting to see how Peyton Manning deals with such a crushing loss. The truth is, he did everything he could to win, but he couldn’t do it alone and every time he’d get the ball in play someone on his team would blow it. If you’re not familiar with Peyton Manning, he the MVP award this year.

And he’s got a real comeback story. He was injured and didn’t know if he’d be able to play again. Then at the age of 37 he decided he wasn’t done yet, came back, and became most valuable player. Just goes to show the power of the mind!

But, it is up to each of us to decide how we will use it. Don’t let your fear keep you on the sidelines! Get in the game take your knocks, come out stronger than before and make a touchdown! If that’s a best-seller-go for it! If it’s to make a 6-figure income-go for it! Whatever it is you want to do, figure out a plan to get your there and take massive action!
Just get in the game and get started NOW!
