Writing An eBook: Start With A Killer Title!

Saturday, April 28th, 2012

Once you’ve done the research and you know what your niche is, who your target market is, and what you are going to write about, and you’re ready to write, start with a killer title.

A killer title will get you excited and inspire you! It will make it more real for you and of course it will help you sell more ebooks. I also always recommend people start with their title because it keeps them focused on what they are trying to write about.

Many people have trouble staying on point and tend to veer off on to tangents and then they can’t get back to their topic. Others, write a great title, but when they start writing the ebook, they end up with a different “hook” that doesn’t match the title. But either way, when you write a killer topic you can keep referring back to it and it will help you stay on track.

It also helps to write out your outline. What I have my students do in my “3 Days to eBook Cash” authoring program is write out their title at the top of the page and then start the outline underneath that.  Each time you add a chapter, look back at your killer title and make sure that it’s appropriate for THIS ebook. If not, set it aside for another ebook later.

When writing a killer title, you want to use keywords that your target market is searching for. And, if you want to sell your ebook on Kindle, as well as self-publish, then you’ll want to cross reference it in Kindle.

Now, cross referencing in Kindle takes some work. There are several perimeters you need to look at including which 2 categories you want to put your ebook in, which keywords you are going to use (you can only use 7), which ebooks are both relevant and popular in your category, and the best-seller rankings.

To find titles that work for self-publishing is much easier than finding one that works for Kindle. But, if you want as much exposure as possible, you’ll want to make sure our title will sell your ebook for you on both platforms.

If you need help finding a killer title, building your platform or both go to www.theebookcoach.com/crazymove and check out the awesome special we’re running!

My eBook Isn’t Selling, Help!

My eBook Isn’t Selling, Help!

If you’re self-publishing and your ebook isn’t selling, it could be one of these 5 reasons:

* You don’t have the right title.
* You don’t have a professional, clean ebook cover.
* You’re website isn’t set up properly.
* You’re not marketing it properly.
* It’s not priced properly.
… or a combination of these factors.

(Assuming you wrote a quality ebook!)

If you’re on Kindle and having difficulty selling your ebook, it could be because:

* You haven’t picked the right categories.
* You don’t have the right title.
* You don’t have the right  keywords
* You don’t have a professional, clean ebook cover.
* You’re not marketing it properly (or at all!)

For self-publishing, I find that 95% of the people who come to me don’t have their website set up properly, so it’s impossible to market. With Kindle, I find that most people don’t have the right title, they aren’t in the proper categories, they don’t have the right keywords or a combination of all three.

Social Media in 2012 – Adding Pinterest To Your Mix For Best Results

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

The emergence of social media since 2006 has made a huge difference in the way people connect and communicate with each other. Part of the attractiveness of this medium is the visual and interactive capabilities of being able to share ideas, images, and interests with others in real time, and to be able to learn more from people around the world whom we would not have had the chance to meet in any other way.

The newest player in this arena is Pinterest. Even though it’s been around for more than a year, people are just jumping on board with it in a big way. It goes across all age groups, education and socioeconomic levels, so your prospects are most likely already there. This social media site allows you to create theme-based boards where you can ‘pin’ images of things you are interested in.

For example, you may want to create a board around travel and vacations and then pin images of the places you have visited or hope to visit in the future. These virtual pinboards then become the way for you to start conversations with your target audience.

The first thing you’ll want to do is to complete your profile on Pinterest. It’s important that visitors to your boards know who you are and what you do in relation to the images you are pinning.

For example, pinning images of food is much more relevant for someone in the cooking or other food related niche than it would be for someone who is involved in online marketing. On the other hand, pinning images of books can be appealing to others, no matter which niche they are in. I like to think of this more as interests than niches, and that you are relating to people at a more natural and basic level.

The possibilities for driving traffic to your blog, websites, and to your affiliate links is endless with this site. Make sure you have a strategy that makes sense for your business. Just as you would not provide a clickable link to every single thing you talk about on your blog, on the other social networking sites, and in your daily life, you do not need to do this on Pinterest, either.

Instead, choose a few images to pin with your links, and think of this as a way to more fully connect with your followers. This works extremely well. I learned long ago to find where the traffic you want is already going and then to stand in front of the line to receive your share.

Remember that you will want to connect your Pinterest account with your Facebook profile, Twitter account, and LinkedIn profile. The idea is to have a presence in all of these places to reach a wider audience and increase your visibility online. Taking full advantage of social media leads to a more fulfilling online experience, and it can be financially beneficial as well.
