“The closer your destination, the more you’re 
slip-sliding away.”  
You know the feeling . . .
You set your mind on a goal.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a career ambition,
Getting a date with a particular gal at the gym,
Meeting a deadline which would produce more cash
than you’ve ever seen,
Getting your cousin to introduce you to her handsome neighbor,
Losing the last 5 pounds after taking off the first 30 . . .

As Steven Pressfield says . . .

eBook & Information Marketers:The Auto Industry Is Using Twitter, Are You?

Carmakers “get” Twitter and are using it to  launch their  product lines with great success according to a story in Friday’s  Los Angeles Time. They understand that it gives them
direct access to an audience that wants to hear about what they are selling and wants to share it with their friends which  makes it a great marketing tool for any company or brand

And this is what makes it such a great tool for authors, coaches, small business owners, and entrepreneurs as well.

Twitter allows you  to connect with your audience, and make them feel part of your team which  breeds loyalty, increases sales and  creates bigger profits over time.

So if you want to sell more ebooks or information products take a page from the autor industry’s playbook and get on Twitter (if you aren’t there already). Start building a relationship with your audience and your efforts will be richly rewarded.

Just be sure to follow the rules. It’s about connection so write your own tweets; don’t pay someone to do it for you. Focus on relationships not selling. And  send  frequent informative tweets to stay connected to your audience.

eBook Marketing Mistake #5 Put It Online And They Will Come!

This is the 5th mistake in an occasional series.

Authors put ebooks on their site and think people are going to flock to their site to buy from them. Then they wonder why they aren’t making sales and finally they conclude selling online doesn’t work!

But nothing could be farther from the truth. There is an art and a science to making sales online. And here’s why they aren’t making any. First off, the author is asking people to come to a site and purchase an ebook when potential buyers don’t know him or her and they probably don’t know anything about them.

This is not how it works.

Think about it; when you buy, isn’t it because someone recommended the product to you, or you heard about it on television, or on the radio, or read about it in the newspaper? Maybe you saw an ad in the newspaper then saw a billboard and then a friend mentioned it. This is called ISYOT, which I learned from my friend and colleague Paul Colligan. It means “I See You Out There”.

When you start hearing about a product or service from different sources you start to think it’s worthy of your attention or it wouldn’t keep showing up all over the place. That’s also why we get testimonials. It assures us it’s a good product. It’s called “social proof” or 3rd-party endorsements. And the truth is that it makes people feel comfortable making a purchase when others have given their seal of approval.

When you don’t have that, then what you have to do is build the trust yourself between you and your potential buyer (which it never hurts to do anyway).

How do you do that? By giving great content for free-tips, special reports, videos, podcasts, teleseminars, etc. When you do this and you prove to your potential buyer that you have something of value to offer, they start to know you, like you, and trust you. Then they will be inclined to buy from you.

But if you jump in asking someone to buy from you when they don’t know you, it’s like asking someone to marry you on the first date (as Alex Mandossian likes to say)! Most people would never do that!

So think of your relationship with your potential buyers like a series of dates. Make a good first impression and then build on it over time. Eventually if your potential buyers are interested, they’ll buy from you!

Article Marketing: 3 Keys to Magnetic Article Titles That Boost Your Traffic

Articles really can catapult your traffic. But only when your prospects actuallyl read them! Because if they like what they see, there is a much larger chance for them to click through the link in your resource box to join your list.


And one of the best wasy to insure they read your article after they find it, is to craft a title so compelling, so magnetic its almost painful for them to leave the page without reading.


And here are three terrific tips to boost the octane and effectiveness of your article titles, and explode the traffic your site receives from them:


1.  Urgent Interest


Miss this one, and failure is virtually guaranteed. The focus of your title (and article) must be one your audience is urgently interested in.


Their interest can’t be casual.


Casual interest may lead your prospect to check out your article. But there is no hunger. There is no impulsion to find resolution. No reason to engage you and your business further.


And when this is the case, your prospect will rarely accept your invitation to opt into your mailing list to collect your bonus bribe.


Be sure the topics you select for your articles are topics that respond to a pre-existing urgent interest in your reader.  So your title can then hook them, without mercy.



2.  Curiosity


Is there any chance you will miss the season finale of your favorite TV show?


Television relies on one primary human emotion – curiosity – to insure you continue to tune in week after week.


If it works for a billion dollar industry, why not for you?


Be sure your title creates such intense curiosity in your prospect, it is almost painful for them click away from your article without reading it.



3.  Embedded Benefit


No one cares what YOU want to write about. (Sorry, but its true).


I only care about what I want to find out. When you write about that, you got me.


So when choosing your title, imply a powerful benefit buried somewhere in the article that your prospect will have to read the article to discover.


Because once I read your article, if the payoff from your promised benefit hits the spot, there is a much larger chance I will follow through on your invitation to discover more great secrets by joining your mailing list.


And that’s the massive payoff that makes writing articles one of the BEST things you can do for your business!
